Weston-super-Mare had several mineral water / fizzy drink manufacturers suppliers during the 19th Century. The drinks were very popular and business possibly grew as the Weston area developed with more pubs / hotels / restaurents / cafes etc as tourism mushroomed. The 'Codd' design with a marble was used exclusively as boys liked to break the bottles to get the marble out.
