The chocolate bunny is never coming back. Not ever.

It is nearly Easter. It’s also very much 2018.

And for no reason other than the combination of those two facts, Easter treats this year are bigger, weirder and more decadent than ever before.

This week, a supermarket chain launched a new hot cross bun that is in fact, a GIANT hot cross bun.

From traditional buns to monster buns

This beast from the yeast comes in at a stonking 916 calories – . It is also four times as big as a standard-sized bun and will just about fill a small plate.

Feasting on hot cross buns is traditionally a way of marking the end of Lent, the Christian custom of fasting and giving up luxuries in preparation for Easter.

And feast you shall if you buy this supersized baked good. But while doing so, you might like to bear in mind that Christians believe , and the spices used in the dough signify those Jesus was wrapped in at his burial.

For those of you who can’t get enough of Easter-themed treats, you’re in luck because this year there is more to get excited about than just giant buns.

Hot Cross Bun Gin

. Some eagle-eyed entrepreneur seems to have spotted this trend and decided that Easter is prime tippling time.

Easter Gin it is then.

It's called Hot Cross Gin and contains an infusion of citrus, sultanas and Easter spices.

Because nothing says Christ has risen like ice, lemon and a G&T…

Gin and Tonic Egg

While on the subject of gin being the drink du jour, you can now buy a chocolate G&T egg.

The seasonal sweetie is made of white chocolate that is mixed with a gin and tonic flavouring.

This unusual combination might sound like your worst cocktail nightmare but at least it's better for your liver than the real deal.

Yay!

Cheese Egg

Not even Easter eggs are sacred it seems. For some reason, you can now buy a version that’s made entirely of cheese.

A high street supermarket has released this offering, which is made of blue cheese and comes ready with onion chutney and oatcakes.

Cheese has long been rumoured to give you bad dreams, and we imagine that this egg is indeed a nightmare for a fair few foodies.

However, it comes on the back of a recent report by market analysts Mintel that found that

The cheesy Easter treat has torn the internet in two.

Some have given their seal of approval.

Which makes you wonder what they’d make of this...

The Hot Cross Bun Cone

A New Zealand ice cream parlour has managed to produce this masterpiece/horror.

The bizarre creation consists of an ice cream cone shoved through a hot cross bun and filled with hot cross bun ice cream. Mind-boggling.

Given that an ice cream is likely to be cold, and it’s fair to say that a hot cross bun should be hot, it all sounds a little bit messy.

And if you think that’s strange then we’ll leave you with this Easter hybrid horror.

Creme Egg Yorkshire pudding

Yes, you read that correctly, for this is now a thing.

A pub in the West Midlands has released a Yorkshire pudding with an Easter twist.

This dubious dessert consists of a white and orange fondant and chocolate sponge cake, which is baked inside a giant batter shell and topped with Creme Eggs.

Unsurprisingly, this one also divides the faithful.

While some are salivating at the prospect:
