The announcement of several GB rowing teams for the World Cup in Munich from May 25-27, has been made - to coincide with the opening of a new training lake in Caversham. The GB Men's Four will be Steve Williams, Peter Reed, Alex Partridge and Andy Hodge. The GB Women's Quadruple scull will be Debbie Flood, Katherine Grainger, Sarah Winckless and Fran Houghton. Several of the rowers, including Henley-based Flood, are likely to make use of the new Redgrave Pinsent Rowing Lake which was opened by Olympic legends Steve Redgrave and Matthew Pinsent at the weekend. The lake is a 2000m still water rowing lake, just off the Henley Road in Caversham. It's the first new world class training venue to open since the announcement that London will host the Olympics in 2012.听 |
