Roger Day

Catch the radio stalwart that is Roger Day every weekday evening from 7pm til 10pm on 成人论坛 Radio Berkshire.

Roger 'Twiggy-man' Day returned to the 成人论坛 after a remarkable career in commercial radio that's seen him present on radio stations including the legendary Radio Luxembourg and Radio Caroline.

You can hear him every weekday evening from 7pm til 10pm on 成人论坛 Radio Berkshire.

In the 1970s he helped take Manchester's Piccadilly Radio to number one in the ratings.

In the 1980s he wrote Invicta's application to win them the first commercial radio licence for Kent. In the 90s he helped launch a new radio station in Cornwall.

Roger's love of music is legendary and his encyclopaedic knowledge of music is matched by the awesome fact that he owns every Top 10 single released since 1955.

His show is all about bringing together the music and the listeners, says Roger.

"I bring along the music and the guests. The listeners add in their memories and thoughts to make the show complete."

Caught part of your show friday evening when you played that excellent Blue Jays track. You commented that you did not think Blue Jays was available on CD. Well I can confirm it is available with a bonus track Blue Guitar which was only released as a single. Threshold label number 820491-2

Hi Roger, thanks for talking to my wife and I last thursday about various topics, but to start with Alvin Stardusts' little known track 'Jump Down'We are back from Wales now and I am posting you the album so you can play it. I had forgotten all about it but a recent reunion with old friends reminded me and I searched for it, by chance just re released on CD! I think this track is a little bit different in a good way and am disappointed it never got played as far as I know in this country... please make my day!I have a band in reading called 'Blue Rock' www.blue-rock-band.co.uk and we have started playing this tune at gigs. Only once so far but I was pleased that everyone carried on dancing and joined in with the chorus as though they knew it!!!Anyway it will be in the post to you very soon. All the best dave

I have just switched to 成人论坛2 as I have found Roger Day's generalisations about ''the welsh'' tiresome and irritating; you'd expect such unenlightened and dated comments from a commercial radio station but not from the 成人论坛.

Heard that riff last week that was part of the Rod Stewart/Maggie May song and runs out the end of the record. Used to hear that in Cyprus when Radio Luxembourg opened up, it was their start up theme at 6 oclock I think. Great piece of music!

hi,My boyfriend is Australian and he was very sad to know you aren't curious about Australia. Why is that? Is such a great place. I, her girlfriend (Portuguese), wished I was living there. Easy to make friends, nice weather, good life quality, amazing nature... what is wrong with that? Can you please play Robert Johnson or pay a little tribute to Max Roach?Great sound!cheers, patricia

Anne

Dear Roger,I listen to your show on the way home from work,an hours drive, but your show makes that hour go to quickly, I sometimes have to sit in the car when I get home to listen to the finnish of the track(my wife thinks I am mad).I love the varience of music on your show, my own tastes are quite varied, BUT, I have a passion for old 60's/70's funky/soul instrumentals. You play Billy Prestons-Billys-bag,Alan Havens-Image which I am sure used to be the intro to Radio Luxemburg(I used to listen to this on my old "Pam" transistor radio in bed, as a child.Anyway,a few weeks ago you playedMemphis soul stew( I had to get that piece of vinyl out and play it again)great track!.Please, if you have any Willie Mitchell/Mar- Keys?Nightlighters/Mohawkesif thats not to obscure!could you please playthanking youBob in Tadley.ps. do you remember Dave Anthony a DJ on Radio Luxemburg, an ex Reading Top-Rank DJ-he helped nurture my love of this music. pps. Dont ever change your style, you on the Radio an Jools Holland on the Television, both tower above the rest.

Dear Roger, I've been listening to your show since February 2007 and always enjoy. You're an excellent presenter and play my kinda music. I'm into classic rock from the late 60's and early 70's particularly. I'm also a keen Yes fan these days, so was thrilled when you played Starship Trooper from the Yes Album on 14th May, and of course going back to 3rd December, hearing Yours is No Disgrace on the radio again was out of this world! When you interviewed Chris Squire that evening, it was a great surprise for me! Yes are rehearsing for their 40th Anniversary Close to the Edge and Back Tour and will be coming to the UK eventually - they kick of on 12th July in North America and Canada! Love Nicky.

Great programme! Easy listening when driving especially. Heard you mention Mr Straw and French earlier this evening. Does that mean you're an old boy of Chatham House?. Went there myself from 1960 -1967 and remember a Mr Straw very well - "Jack" Straw I believe. I'd love to hear Hey Jude if you've got time!. Happy Birthday

Tom
Dear roge day Plesa can you play 5 6 7 8 to night on the Ridoe and any drem will love fromTom

Juliette
Thanks for pointing out in tonight's show that the picture in the Radio Times isn't you! I've now logged onto the website to see what you do look like and you appear to be a dead ringer for Richard Wright of Pink Floyd! Keep up the good work and I'll put in a word with Radio 2 for the Sounds of the Sixties slot - I reckon you'll be the perfect replacement when Brian Matthews retires - make it Sounds of the Sixties & Seventies though.

stuart "swampy" marsh
just a great radio show Roger, any chance of the Easybeats "Friday on my mind", usually about Wednesday it is with me!

Dave
I agree with your past comment that all the great hits were designed for transistor radios. I listen to the first half of your show on a small radio. I have a D.A.B radio and it is great for the spoken word but music sounds matt, as in paint. anyway, going back into time, the most memorable records I can recall are. Paul Anka`s Diana and Elvis Presley`s all shook up. My older sister could only go to Sittingbourne fairgrounds if she took me . Her boyfriend used to give me five bob to enjoy myself on the rides on condition I didn`t tell. It would be good to hear these songs again, and I wont tell. David. Oxford

Can you get radio WM to join in.! Cant do our cooking without you. What is that ace music with the hammond organ intro.keep ringing the bell.

Peter
Believe me Roger the lads here in the Wembley Dressing room would sooner be listening to your show over the next two hours. got to go, National Anthem is striking up. any chance of a Bee Gees number ? Peter, Steve and the whole team. Help !!!

Jack
In view of the heartbraking News tonigh about Oxford Speedway can you please play `Old Shep`

Dave
Roger, I now live in Oxford having grown up in Kent.We are spoilt for choice for easily reachable mega music venues from the NEC to London. It appears to me that area served by your evenning show is starved of major venues. Surely its time for Canterbury or Maidstone to have an indoor Arena capable of seating thousands of fans. No ? I have tried to ring your show to have a chat about this but your phone is raely answered. Kind Regards. David.

David
Roger, as it is St. George`s Day. How about a track from George Thourgood and the Destroyers . I know hes not English but I bet it would wake a few people up. Good Show.

dave edgell
hi roger got your message regarding who sang craze frinton kirk which you say was johnny young.thank you very much.

John Milne
How amazing to hear Roger Day again on the radio. I first heard you on Caroline and saw you on the back of a vespa at the big protest march against the Marine Offences Bill in London. Thanks for playing instrumentals, they were so important in the 60s. My favourites were by Duane Eddy. How about playing 'The Avenger' please. I will be listening whenever I can now. John Milne (Mytchett, Surrey)

brian hug
