BRAKE, a national road safety charity is always on the look out for committed volunteers. Opportunities on offer range from general admin work to supporting families who have been bereaved by road crashes.
BRAKE also needs volunteers to carry out road safety surveys, as well as promoting the charity at events, handing out educational material and talking to the public.

Roadpeace provides free confidential support and information – to the bereaved and the injured and their carers – through their helpline, 12 hours a day every day.Ìý Callers will be in touch with trained volunteers, who have themselves suffered bereavement or injury.

Headway West Midlands
Headway West Midlands is a charity set up to give help and support to people affected by brain injury
Offers of voluntary help are always greatly welcomed, ranging from:
• assisting paid staff to run the general activity programmes within our Brain Injury Development Centre;
• providing a specialist input to particular activities - music, wood-work, art, computing, etc;
• supporting our community work by befriending individual brain-injured persons;
• applying business and professional skills as a trustee/director or adviser;

PALS volunteers at the Sandwell and West Birmingham hospitals
Working as a PALS volunteer at the Sandwell and West Birmingham hospitals involves visiting the wards and talking to patients.
Volunteers work with hospital staff to resolve any issues raised by patients, their carers or relatives and make referrals to the PALS office when necessary. Volunteers need good communication skills and the ability to act as a friendly face to patients in the hospital.
