Karen: I wear this on my head, but why do you think I wear it?
Girl 1: A bike helmet?
Boy 1: Is it a rock-climbing helmet?
Boy 2: A police helmet.
Nadiya: Karen, I think they're going to need a clue.
Girl 1 and Boy 3: Yes, please.
Karen: So, I wear it for my job. I do something that involves a lot of heat and I wear it on my head to protect me.
Nadiya: Can you guess what it is now?
Boy 4: Motorbike helmet.
Boy 5: Spaceman outfit.
Boy 1: A going into the cave helmet.
Nadiya: Some great guesses but no-one's right yet. Karen, why do you wear that on your head?
Karen: I am a firefighter.
Nadiya: What a cool job! So, tell us, what is that on your head?
Karen: This is my firefighting helmet.
Nadiya: How do you say that?
Karen: You say firefighting helmet.
Boy 1: Firefighter helmet.
Boy 6: Yes!
Girls 2 and 3: Firefighter helmet.
Nadiya: So, what does a firefighter do?
Karen: A lot of my work involves rescuing people, whether it's in a fire, or a car crash, or even stuck in the water. It's a fantastic job.
Boy 3: Nee-naw, nee-naw, nee-naw!
Boy 1 and Boy 6: Plish!
Karen: It's really hard on the top to protect my head. It's nice and soft in the middle, just to make it comfortable when I wear it.
Nadiya: What do the different bits on your helmet do?
Karen: I have a big visor, when I'm cutting big things, like buses.
Boy 1: The visor is to keep your face safe.
Karen: I also have a torch on the top that helps me see when it's really dark.
Boy 2: You press this button and the light comes on.
Girl 1: Why is the helmet yellow?
Nadiya: Why is your helmet yellow?
Karen: Well, it's really a fluorescent colour so that you can see me in the dark, or, when it's smoky, all the firefighters can see each other.
Boy 3: It's a really standing out colour.
Boy 1: If there's a fire in the night, it will show them the way.
Nadiya: Firefighters are often put into dangerous situations and having a helmet on could save them from being badly hurt.
Karen: I've been a firefighter for 11 years and it is the best helmet ever. It's a bit heavy, but it does protect my head when I'm helping people.
Boy 1: If they didn't have a helmet, what if the fire went on their head?
Nadiya: Are you ever scared when you have to do your job, Karen?
Karen: Sometimes I get a bit scared. When everyone's running away from the fires, I'm running towards them.
Girl 1: I think firefighters are the bravest people.
