In the gounds of Himley Hall

Despite sudden showery bursts, hundreds called in at Himley Hall over the course of the three day event to help to enjoy the annual Dudley Performing Arst Festival.

'Songs from the Shows' was the theme of this year's event and dozens of youngsters from a variety of schools, community groups and drama organisations used their talents to pay homage to classic soundtracks and musical numbers.

Crowds watch a performance

The event launched on the evening of Friday 4th July at around 5.15pm with 'Rock The Castle' - a music showcase that featured 31 school and college bands from across the borough.

For the rest of the weekend, a wide-range of activities took place featuring theatre groups, dance organisations, school music groups, singers, massed choirs, singers, soloists, acoustic acts, drummers, orchestras and bands.

Facilities included: The Garden Stage; The Big Top Stage; Entrance/Acoustic Stage; The Himley Crucible: DJ Tent; funfairs; traders' stall; workshops and the family tent.

The tents housed regular workshops - ranging from breakdancing to arts and craft - for all the family to enjoy and food and drink stalls kept everyone well nourished for the weekend.
