While Gold Run set out to chart the history of Great Britain's Olympic success, along the way it was also a privilege to hear first-hand accounts of moments outside of competition that will shape the event's history forever, for better or for worse.
From long jump champion Lynn Davies' account of Tommie Smith's Black Power Salute in 1968, to various gold medallists recalling the horrific terrorist atrocities of Munich 1972, the programme has acted partly as a potted history of the Games themselves.

Before I met a single Olympic gold medallist it was my hope that those who had fallen from the limelight, or were never in it in the first place, would have their story documented. So in 20 years when anybody needed to know the tale of Judy Grinham, David Bond or Gillian Sheen, to name but three, they would only have to reach for the Gold Run archive.
Invariably, it has been those lesser known stories that have gripped me, that have enthralled me, that have left an everlasting imprint on my mind and, in many cases, my heart.

Prost v Senna, Mansell v Berger, Clark v Hill - all classic F1 rivals from years gone by, and most signify a golden age in Formula One. But is this current season one of the best ever, or is the lack of a clear leader the sign that something is wrong with the championship?
I've just returned from Canada where the history books were re-written; we听had a seventh winner from the first seven races of the 2012 season. Some say that with no clear leader the is more alive.
But there's a quiet murmuring around the paddock suggesting that by not having the traditional rivalries of days gone by听it's a听disappointing start to the season.
I couldn't disagree more!

From the very first Gold Run interview, myself and producer Nick Etherton did our utmost to uncover at least one thing connected to our Olympic interviewees that hadn't been talked about before. Or least made them think a little bit more about their moment - or moments - under one of the brightest of sporting spotlights.
Sometimes it would be a tiny thing, like discovering that Daley Thompson finished 18th on his 18th birthday in Montreal, or that Tim Brabants was partly inspired by the cult 成人论坛 show .
On other occasions it was truly sporting: Allan Wells racing the boycotting Americans from Moscow 1980 just weeks after that Olympic final, or that pentathlon win represents the shortest and, potentially, the longest a world record will ever be held.
In the case of Sir Chris Hoy, it was all his own doing鈥

We've started testing a for 5 live, and we want you let us know what you think.
The launch is part of a wider 成人论坛 Radio online听project that will see all networks switch to a new homepage design permanently later in the year. But while there will be a common theme across all stations, the distinctiveness of each 鈥 and especially 5 live 鈥 should still shine.
The new look is designed to help you find content more easily. One new feature is the option to 鈥楩avourite鈥 a clip or programme, dropping it in to a personalised folder which you can access when logged in听to your 成人论坛 ID on a computer, on mobile or on a tablet. This allows you to quickly listen to or watch your favourites programmes and clips wherever you may be.

Tracking down the so-called superstars of British Olympic history isn鈥檛 actually that difficult, in the overall scheme of Gold Run.
You want Redgrave, you ring an agent. You want Holmes, you call a manager. You want Coe, just hang around Canada Wharf tube station for a couple of days.
Much more tricky is tracking down those Olympic heroes who have somewhat disappeared into a normal life, taking jobs ranging from teaching to dentistry, and from lawyer to, in the case of '56 boxing legend Dick McTaggart, rat catcher!
The one exception to the rule was Daley Thompson who, despite being arguably the most famous face in our Olympic history, proved somewhat of an enigma.

This week, seven months after he broke his neck in a riding accident, is back on a horse and on course for selection for Britain's show jumping team for 2012. Stockdale was treated for six weeks in a spinal injuries unit at Oswestry in Shropshire after a fall last October but last weekend won an event in France on his horse Calico Bay. He spoke to 5 live's London Calling about this amazing recovery.
