Google announces Maps API v2

The highlights of the update include:
- Smaller JavaScript download
- Additional zoom levels
- Extensions to the API to enable custom map controls and custom map types
- Debugging (yay!)
- New GLatLng class to construct non-reversed map points
- No page view limits
- 90-day notice should Google wish to start to advertising on the maps
It would appear V2 is backward-compatible with most existing calls to the V1 API, although you can check out the for details.
