Today we did our show from our Love Bollywood Boudoir at the JW Marriot in Mumbai. The show was fun packed and celebrity lead, everyone turned up bar one very ill Aamir Khan, he had been shooting for 3 Idiots the night before, the scene apparently involved a lot of cold water, which resulted in Aamir waking up with a high temperature this morning. Get well soon Aamir.
It's been a mad, mad Mumbai fundaas day...after the hurly burly of the rehearsals at YRF we headed back to the hotel, quickly showered, changed and headed off to Olive for a quick quaff and then for dinner. Mumbai is less busy than normal - is it the credit crunch we ask? Ended up at a fantastic new restaurant in Bandra - it's a bbq place in which all the tables are placed over coals and you cook as you eat - we finally stuffed our faces.
This morning was an early start. We spent most of the day at the Yash Raj Studios, where the Filmfare awards will take place on Saturday. Katrina Kaif was rehearsing some of her numbers on stage, and in the next studio Farhan Akhtar was filming his TV show Oye! It's Friday, interviewing AB junior who incidentally has lost a lot of weight. We will dig further on Love Bollywood this Sunday when AB junior joins us live in Mumbai.
We feel totally recovered from our jet lag. An early night, (we hit our beds at about 2.00am Mumbai time) and were up for our daily meeting at 10am. The day's agenda was set over aloo prathas, ginger tea, and deep filled chocolate croissants. Set for the day, the team began on the tasks ahead.
We are writing this at 8.00pm Mumbai time - the sun is just setting on the Arabian Sea -and we are feeling on top of the world - Mumbai is one of our favourite cities and we are home in the city of celluloid dreams - it takes your breath away. We are getting suited and booted and off to see a dear friend - Rachel Dwyer at Olive.
As you've heard us talk about on the show, next weekend we'll be in Mumbai, it's one our favourite cities and of course the land of Bollywood! We'll be broadcasting live from Mumbai , bringing you all the latest in the lead up to the prestigious Filmfare Awards.
After our show last Sunday we rushed down to the South Bank where the BFI where celebrating Bollywood with ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Blast. We had been asked to take part in hosting whilst Sapna Dance School entertained us all with Bollywood dance numbers. This was then followed by aÌý Q&A session with us. Thank you to all of you for coming down.
London is the one city that the majority of the movers and shakers of the mad bad world of Bollywood call their "HOME FROM HOME"., and today the King himself is in town, despite his shoulder injury, for the launch of "Billu." We can't wait to see him - the last time we chatted was just after the Mumbai terrorist talks and SRK was in an emotional mood.
It's been an interesting week so far - on Monday we were invited to mentor pupils at Wormholt Primary School in London. It was amazing to see how kids of all backgrounds are so interested in the magic of Bollywood. Our hats off to all the teachers - its exhaustive work but we enjoyed every minute of the day. This Sunday our foray into the world of "The Prime of Ms Jean Brodie" and "Tare Zameen Par" continues as we are the subject of a "Q&A on Bollywood" as a part of ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Blast Bollywood Festival at the British Film Institute. Nervous, excited - its fun to be on the other side with questions fired at us. Do hope you can come along!
What a week it's been - we finally thought everyone would have shaken of the January blues -the doom and gloom of the credit crunch and gearing up to Valentine's day, when suddenly the Arctic storms were upon us and the country came to a standstill. After the initial joys of the 'Christmas card' picturesque scenes were over, the reality hit - what to do to pass the time stuck at home? Well, the solution for us was simple - catch up with the backlog of classic Bollywood movies - at three hours a pop - the time flew by.
