Well, it was a long time in arriving and flew by quicker than I can believe. Euro 2008 has been my first tournament for 成人论坛 Sport, and what a special three weeks it's been. But now it's time to start packing for home.
All the presents I've bought seem like a bad idea now and just will not fit into a suitcase that was already full in the way out...great planning, Jake!!
My suitcase may be full, but it's positively vacuous compared to the memories filling up the grey matter and taking up so much space I'll never find anywhere for all that Olympic research. In no particular order, these are some of the things from Euro 2008 that will live with me for a long, long time...

Well, that will be the quickest five days of my life then. I can safely say that from the moment I landed in the rain at Vienna Airport, having enjoyed the short hop from Geneva, the days have flown by in a haze of amazing architecture, live shows from the studio, interviews in the Fan Zone, tube trips across this remarkable city, more live TV programmes, watching masses of football...and even a ride on a ghost train!
And it's not easy to work out what's been the highlight of the lot thus far. Certainly watching live games with the pundits has taught me more in a few days than I picked up on the terraces at Carrow Road in 30 years.

Exactly as I expected, 'The Football Focus Marco van Basten Award for the Second Best Euro Goal Ever' has split you guys every which way!
Some of you, like UKNavajo, are adamant Gazza deserves it whilst the likes of ShunsukeNakamura25 seems to disagree somewhat! A fair chunk of you were impressed by Poborsky's and Brolin's efforts, while Ray Houghton and Figo both got mentions. But seems to shade the votes as the second best ever at this stage.
Interesting to note the almost non-existent comments questioning whether Van Basten deserves top spot...on that we all seem agreed.

Thank you for all your suggestions for the winner of our newly created honour...'The Marco van Basten Award for the Second Best Goal in Euro History'.
One of the things I love about the game is how subjective it is, as best friends and families that have fallen out over football over the years can testify!

needs YOU! With Euro 2008 about to kick off in just a few days, we've decided to take on a tricky challenge that I'm sure you'll have an opinion on... which is the best goal ever scored at the tournament.
Actually, scrap that, we all know for Holland against the Soviet Union in the 1988 final. So how about we launch a new honour? What about 'The Marco van Basten Award for the Second Best Goal in Euro History'? I think it sounds rather catchy.

What's your role at Euro 2008?
I'll be hosting Football Focus every Saturday, presenting World Focus, which is a special show for people watching right across the globe, and hopefully getting involved in the parties in the fan parks across Vienna! I really love the unique buzz and excitement that comes from being at the heart of a big tournament and my challenge to myself is to make sure the atmosphere is conveyed to you guys here online and also on TV.
