"Most people are quite amazed that I'm the coxswain of the boat "
Matt Dann is just 18 years old, and a quietly spoken teenager, but he has a list of achievements that belies his young age.
He's the coxswain of a lifeboat, and has also recently been doing land rescues for people stuck by the floods. As a trained medic he's just become a community first responder, responsible for getting to the scene of an accident if an ambulance is too far away.
He says "it does have the moments where it makes your hair stand up on the back of your neck".
Matt does all this in his spare time with a youth group called who've nominated him for an iPM Honour.
Ray Furlong (grinning above right) went to meet him and his shipmates, listen to the result (5.29 mins):
If you'd like to nominate someone for an iPM New Year Honour - drop us a line before midnight tonight.
