All right, it wasn't the biggest brain teaser of the year - for that, you can try your hand at the . But given the fuss generated around X Factor, it's mildly entertaining to discover that almost half of respondents to the question: who was the first winner of X Factor? got it wrong. The answer is Steve Brookstein. Michelle McManus was Pop Idol and Shayne Ward winner fo the second X Factor. (Brookstein's latest single and album failed to chart in the top 75.)
