Dizzee passed through the show last night (once he finished watching Eastenders) to tell us about his new album Tongue N Cheek, as well as all the juicy stuff!
Listen back to find out what he thinks of UK Funky, his message to those receiving exam results this week, which movie he wanted to write, what he'd be doing if he didn't make it in the music biz and loads more!
Last nights show was definitely a double wammy!!. We had the amazing Willoe live on the show who performed this week's Jam Hot record 'Consciousness'. Plus, Chip Diddy Chip dropped by to play us the exclusive of his brand new track 'Oopsy Daisy'.
Last week Tinchy Stryder visited ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳'s Maida Vale studio's in London to give us an exclusive live session containing tracks from his new album 'Catch 22'.
The session was heavy, check out the video by clicking on the pic below...
So, our week in Ayia Napa is well and truly over. Everything you need to know/re-live/catch up on is on our amazing mini-site (shouts to Online Kate & Cameraman Lee). We had to close the week of live shows with a bang:
...and to be honest, the last show live from Ayia Napa was slightly surreal for me. We couldn't go to Cyprus and not chat to the biggest Cypriot export of the moment. Peter Andre was our special guest and I became the 23,240th DJ/Journalist/interviewer to ask him questions about the breakdown of his marriage, his music & everything in between however where our interview differed from all the others recently is that we debuted some exclusive new music from the man himself and SHOCK! HORROR! - it's actually quite good.
Whether you're on 'Team Katie' or 'Team Pete' there's no denying Peter Andre's got a good voice - his material has just been, lets say, less than credible. Even back in the day, he was working with the likes of Warren G, Brian McKnight, Cutfather & Joe and Montell Jordan on some bonafide R&B but the label he was on decided to push
Now he's putting his money where his mouth is and self funding the new album, he's gone for a more R&B/urban sound and has been working with former So Solid Crew producer and the results are (pardon the pun) pretty solid. We not only had him perform 2 tracks exclusively and acoustically for us at Villa 1Xtra but we also pushed the button for the first time in the world on a track called "Out Of Control" taken from his forthcoming album "Revelation" which has that Timbaland/Polow Da Don style club feel and to be honest, it's a quality track that if it were anyone else other than Peter Andre, people would have it straight away. After meeting & speaking to him and hearing a good portion of the finished album - here's hoping people take it for what it is - quality music.
Check the video below of when I went to his villa, he broke down the other places in Cyprus you should visit (other than Ayia Napa) and the show & interview is on the iPlayer here. Also keep a look out for his forthcoming ITV 2 show, his camera crew were in full effect at Villa 1Xtra so there may be a lil' MistaJam cameo in the show!
I've not long left Villa 1Xtra and am about to board my flight home, this blog post is written directly from Larnaca Airport! Before the Ayia Napa 2009 experience is completely over for me, I wanted to share this video with you...
You've seen Cribs on MTV right? Where the super rich & famous show you around their houses and show off about their gadgets, cars & pimp cups? Well, 1Xtra brings you Villas:
Ayia Napa 2009 has been owned by one song in particular - Funky Dee's "Are You Gonna Bang Doe". Every person in the resort has been singing the song. Every DJ in the resort has been playing the song. Every person in Villa 1Xtra have been randomly quoting the song at some random moments. Even the "Are You Gonna Bang Doe" bug has bitten me:
Last night, Ayia Napa's #1 emcee and professional baller Sniper showed me another side to the Cyprus resort and boy was I surprised!
After picking me up at Villa 1Xtra in his Ferrari:
We hit all the secret exclusive Ayia Napa "only the locals know" spots. The night started off at a beautiful sushi restaurant called Nozomi:
...where we indulged in some of the best tasting sushi I've had and none alcoholic Raspberry & Watermelon cocktails:
After we finished, we headed out to Nissaki Lounge Beach Bar. Sitting on the next much nicer & quieter beach up from Nissi Beach, the Nissaki Lounge Beach Bar's speciality cocktail was a Chocolate Strawberry Margherita:
After a couple of those and sampling many flavours of shisha, we called it a night.
Last night, I was forced to venture out of the safe Villa 1Xtra compound by my team on a mission. That mission was to survive my first night in the main square here in Ayia Napa.
Rather than come with me, my team decided to send me out in the field alone. Luckily I had backup in the form of my new Wife Clare, 1Xtra's own Gemma and Producer Emily. We started off at Bar Havana...
Where the barmaids Jess & Becky hooked us up with a lil' something to get us in the spirit of the night, we were joined by security Liam and then we hit the melee:
All of the photos from the night but highlights include:
Gemma pulling, , , but
And finally, !
I'm off to Nissi Beach for the first time this afternoon and will be strapped with the Jam Cam there. Plus tonight, Cyprus' #1 emcee Sniper will be showing me the more exclusive baller side to Napa. He's picking me up in his sports car after tonight's show. I'll report back from there tomorrow.
It has been a long day for poor MistaJam! He got into Napa at 6am after his 10 hour flight from his Honeymoon hotspot in Dubai. He had 4 hours sleep and then got up and started work straight away...now that is what you call hardcore!
It is the first time he's been to Napa and Young Nate and Cold Steps kicked off his first show with a bang! Plus, Gemma and Cameo kept him in the loop with the latest Napa gossip.
He's looking forward to his first pool party tomorrow, so watch this space!
