sb1 ?
Morning, Sir,
Great to hear from you, but this early start will set the moaning minnies ... well ... moaning.
Nice work with speech, was the holiday equally pleasant? Darfur, wasn't it?
Welcome back Eddie, you were missed.
you will notice that in your absence Rupert got a sideways promotion, and will now sit with his back to you. this sounds unfriendly, but of course it may suit you both.
Lissa with an a why did the site not have my name and e-mail address stored as per usual? have you been tinkering and gone an inch too far?
apparently s/be 1 but I'll be very surprised if it is, I've been caught that way before.
Welcome back, Mister Ed, but I hope that this early post doesn't mean that this is going to be a "two post" day. That tends to get folks into a tizzy round here. Just as Sequin!
sb1
whoops! I meant to say "Just ask Sequin".
By the way, anne, I noticed the contact details thing as well. What I think happens is that when a new blog goes up, the first time you go to make a comment you have to enter the details, but when you come back a second time, it'll remember you. It's probably a quirk of the blog system that it remembers you for each thread separately...
sb4
He's back. Quick everybody write something profound.
Oh, (preen, smirk) I haven't noticed that problem.
OS X & Firefox, fyi, which is why I didn't notice the other probs. Crumbs - there are times when being a maccy isn't a drawback, after all.
FF, I think "just as Sequin" was OK; she got us in a tizz, but seems to have recovered by the time she hit the 'Today' prog.
Well done, Eric, stunningly early post. Missed you.
sb6
Daryll @5
Full fathom five.
That deep enough?
A conjecture both deep and profound
Is whether the circle is round;
In a paper by Erdo"s
written in Kurdish,
A counterexample is found.
(Note: Erdo"s is pronounced "Air-dish".)
Okay, Frances, it's not nice to gloat!! :p
I'll have to check Firefox when I get home, as that's what I use on my home PC. Here at work, I'm stuck with IE :((
Daryll: I'm very pro-found. It beats being lost
SB9
Hurrah, welcome back Eddie. Did you bring souvenirs for us or just duty-frees?
Blimey, this is early! I haven't even finished my sandwiches and lunchtime sudoku...
Until my glucose levels rise a bit I can't think of anything interesting to write, except;
Welcome back Mr. M!
We've had fun playing with Sequin for the past fortnight, now we're just waiting to see what you brought us all back from your holidays...
well it didn't remember me again - a girl could get paranoid here you know?
meanwhile is it not time Lissa with an a posted a photograph of herself - I hastily add this would be not for a dartboard cover but to be garlanded with laurels. Possibly the sacrifice of small animals in front of it would be a step too far, what do the rest of you think?
FF - pro-found - excellent :)!
Re 2, Anne, I have noticed the same thing. It doesn't work as you said either Fearless (4) - I have to re-enter every time now.
And the post count is better but still not right.
And the "recent comments" is technically correct, but were it called "most recent comments" it wouldn't be, if you see what I mean. Sorry Lissa, still complaining - what a rotten bunch eh?
Can we have a picture of you too?
SB13
Wow Anne, how weird* is that? You and I were posting on exactly the same topics at the same time! Spooky.
*Fearless, I've meaning to say: it's "weird" not "wierd" - one of those rebel words that doesn't follow the rules. A minor matter but I'm feeling pedantic again today.
I liked the "pro-found" thing too :)
I'm so suspicious of all of these names, I have to ask:
Is Daryll Beaderday "That'll be the day"? or is it real? It sounds so lovely.
I did say I was going to do some work, didn't I?
That's wierd, it worked earlier for me, but now I've been forgotten. Oh well, I'm sure the lovely Lissa will sort it out eventually :o)
I definitely think that we should have a photo of Lissa. But not one where she's been stressed out by our whingeing!
sb14
But, Lissa with an a has got the postings appearing more quickly.
Ta, Lass.
Is it permissible to quote from one blog in another blog? I'll do it now before I get a reply.
Someone advised us of the no-longer-lonely-goatherd. See what you done?
/blogs/theeditors/index.html
"Back" - I thought this was purely descriptive but now I reckon it might be more a plea (as in "Get Back!")
I'm being 'remembered' which is nice, but I won't be smug as its got nothing to do with me!! however, in the interest of user testing... I'm on IE 6 on a PC.
Frances O - not using Safari...?
btw - I like multiple blogs. keeps us on our toes and able to direct conversations
Being remembered? My contact details have never been stored here - I always have to enter them again. I wondered whether this was because I visit from two different computers, but thinking further there is another site I visit where the same thing is happening, and the details were always stored there until recently. Any ideas folks? Come on, you remember the Doc?! I use IE, by the way.
To Dr Muir: Rather than say anything negative about how things have been, I have been looking forward to your return.
Your tagline is incorrect - I am here.
SB21
Spoons (20) Yes, but this is not "PM, the News Programme"
So there :-P
Okay, so the spelling gremlin has struck me again:( In my defence (such as I can make it) I'd just finished writing a document detailing how to re-work some products, and part of that showed a re-wired unit. I think there was some muscle memory, and it came out as wierd. sorry!
But I must ask, was it really a good idea to travel back in time to post 14 when I didn't use that spelling until 16? Surely there's better uses for your superpowers :p
Where's it all gone?
Italian Suppository (17), don't direct me to other blogs!! I have enough trouble try to keep away from this one!
Sheesh!
SB24
Re 22:
I wasn't using my superpowers (for some reason that is really making me giggle) - you did it on an earlier blog and then just to prove me right did it again after I'd posted. I had a friend called Peter who spelled it like that for years and I just had to stop you because it meant that I was beginning to think of Peter every time I saw your name and that's no good because you're nothing like him in either looks or personality (how do I know, you may ask - well, that's where my superpowers come in...)
Look! No full-stops!!!
Oh fork, Stephen, you're right ;-)
sb26
Trying to do a Ulysses, eh, what with the "no full stops"... Too clever for me to try to copy.
So, I look nothing like Peter. Interesting to know :p If I ever see someone who looks nothing like me, then at least I'll know his name!
RE 25 - spookily I found FF this morning too Ap! What with that and the pedantry, are you sure you're not turning into me?
re 28
Perhaps Valery, although I have always been known as the family pendant (I, of course, maintain that I'm just upholding standards).
Welcome back. Where did you find him? Did he look like someone who'd had his Curly Wurly stolen? Did he look like my friend Peter? (careful, I already know the answer to the last one).
Got Safari as well... *don't hit me, FF!*
btw, is my having a mac w firefox why whenever I type a word with *asterisks* round it all I see is a word with asterisks around it? Do you need IE to get bold?
I've just noticed - there is a full stop in my 25.
I think you're a bit taller than Peter, Fearless. And he's blonde and curly. And I can't imagine you using the expression "Cat wowing".
Spooky! I won't comment about the height, but I've got dark hair and it's never been curly! I think I ought to check my house for hidden cameras!!!
Hee hee
Hee hee Valery?
I've given up - I'm in front of the TV with my vino. I'll go and do it in more likely surroundings tomorrow. Honest.
FFF, Peter is quite short so I guess I could be accused of relying on mathematical probability there. But, I'm not - I do have a camera in your house... I can see the slightly worried expession on your face right now...
Well, going to bed. And not a minute too soon. Only thing kept me up - ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ 2 thingy about folk music. Anyone else see it? Or do you all hide under the counterpane when the thought of the World Service loooooooms?
In that case, Appy, can you tell me where I left my wallet?
I saw you drop it on the bedroom floor and accidentally kick it under the bed a few days ago. Obviously I'm not watching 24/7, so if you've picked it up and then lost it again since, sorry, I can't help.
sb38
Frances O@35
That ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ folk thingy - I saw last week's with Leadbelly, Woody, etc. but decided that this week would not be so good. I couldn't think of anyone of interest that hadn't been included. Now I've thought of one. Tell me they didn't have Steeleye Span on the programme.
H'mm ... this text is appearing in black. Whatever happened to the nice shade of green?
I'll have a look under the bed when I get home:)
Sorry for the late reply, btw. I've been in a meeting since 9:30am, and I've only just got out:(( My brain's gone numb
re 39.
I'll be watching...
Okay, found my wallet. My turn to buy the Curly Wurlys, I think.....
I confess, I had to go out so wasn't watching - was it still under the bed? (Nice duvet cover btw).
Are you buying even though I ate yours last time? You are kind. Actually, could I have Maltesers instead please?
re 35
"Counterpane" Frances? I heard that word for the first time in May this year. How olde worlde!
It was under the bed. That's a good catch:o). Of course it's my turn to buy the snacks. You bought them last time... What about you, Valery & frances? What mid afternoon snack do you want?
