    Morning, Eric! You're posting early.

sb1, but I hold out no hope...

Um... d'you think alien rights groups on ET's home planet are protesting?

Thank you AndyCr... No name for the Strapline today I see! Of course, AndyCrWow, you will always be my favourite strapline now.

Eddie, perhaps the mother ship has come to collect her? She's always been a bit alien to me.

Can we have a picture of Lissa with an a in honour of my birthday - and the second monthiversary of the blog? And how about a little extract of "Eddie doing his vocal warm up"?

    Thank you.

I know what you mean, Eddie. Perhaps the Nanny was a little overprotective.

You clearly had a good night's sleep - Good to be hearing from you so early!

Pity about todays strap, we've 'ad it before and there's no name. Mr T t Coder has some work to do methinks.

What are you doing on your birthday Perry?

Why doesn't someone at the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ ask the politicians what types and levels of NHS jobs will be lost?

If only the NHS cuts were 20,000 of the pointless overpaid target setters and score keepers who clutter up delivery of our health services, add no value and account for a chunk of Tony's NHS investment - as well as "managing" the gravy train of Gordon's build now pay later PFI hospitals.

But as these people control the money the trusts get I imagine they will lay off direct health care workers to make room for more overhead score keepers and other New Labour commissars.

BTW And why when we had so many good local A&E units for years with less funding are they now cutting them back saying we can't afford what has been there for years when budgets are larger - they don't all need ICUs and expensive equipment, that's second line back up after the first hour - front line A&E needs to be near victims with first line emergency support for trauma, cardiac and strokes in particular, not miles away in some over funded NHS management Palace taking an hour or two to reach after a 2 hour wait for an ambulance - as applies in our part of allegedly well provisioned Surrey.

These measures will certainly cut the problems of post trauma recovery in Thatcheresque style - less survivors = less cost.

me feel nausea. I work in the NHS and I know of some redundant. Luckily most people jump before they are pushed and then we are allowd to recruite and wait for it after the adverts are published, someone decides no you cant recruite. The only problem is thy forgot to tell the recruiting office and hey presto 32 applications arrive. What a mess the service is in. Hope someone soon remembers who we are supposed to care about? Is it the half a million managers or is it the poor sick person who has paid their wages by his/her taxes. I'm getting too old and perhaps I should retire.

Nil carborundum. Don't despair, Organise. You've got a large trade union available to you and your colleagues. It will support you if you support it.
btw (albeit similar to Brian's) your link is broken. Shall I pop round with a splint and some plaster of paris?
