The Furrowed Brow

Created for the first time by a wire-free facility in a hotel reception. But that's the only froth you'll get. It's all serious in here.

Hope the wire free facility was secure if you were checking your bank details.

Serious issue in that. Internet fraud.

Well, Eddie, I suppose that's another payment to put on your expenses claim. I hope you didn't send any personal e-mails while you were at it!

Eddie is conducting ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ business on this trip, by starting this thread.

    Therefore it's a business trip.

Don't you ever have time off, Eddie?

Well I hope you've had a good holiday Mr Mayor and that your brow is definitely not furrowed!

Anyone hear the chap talking about the radio 3 message boards the other day? Might have been on 'Feedback'. They get messages deleted if they are off-topic and their general message board has been removed, leaving them only 4 boards for discussing only 4 specific programmes. Other messages get deleted. Scary Big Brother stuff. Do hope we're not in for any of that round here....? (Nervous question mark...!)

Gossipmisress (5) Yes! My flabber was gasted. The Radio 3 guy was a complete control freak. No wonder the poor listener was frustrated. I hope someone nudges him in our direction. It's all TLC here, eh? ;o)

I heard it as well, and was horrified. That radio 3 guy was just the end. He seemed to look on R3 as a personal fiefdom and rather irritated that listeners should want to mess up his message boards. I just hated the way he kept saying 'there are other places they can discuss R3' although I noticed when pressed he couldn't actually name any.And he defended the practice of removing 'off topic' threads. Smug prat. The sort of person who gives the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ a bad name.

Ah Eddie, you miss us don't you? The feeling is mutual. But, OK, we're meant to be serious here. I didn't hear the aforementioned R3 bloke and I'm jolly glad about it!

Phew, it sounds like I should be glad I didn't hear the R3 guy. My blood pressure's high enough already!

Nice to have you back with us Eddie.

The saddest thing regarding the Radio 3 listeners is that there are so few of them to start with, and then to treat them in such an awful way!

    Bless them.

So - and this is serious enough! Where did you get to Eddie, Ireland, Scotland England, Wales -- or did you venture across the shores ?

I dare say all will be revealed in time.

Jonnie (10) absolutely, and they will lose even more. I couldn't believe what I was hearing - the R3 guy just seemed to think the boards were there purely for his convenience and to receive highly selected feedback. Does he think R3 is there solely for himself??!

I was also jumping around the kitchen on Friday shaking my fist at the guy on Feedback! Control Freak summed it up right enough. I'm surprised anyone bothers posting if their comments are so churlishly received.

Is this story from Priv*te *y* really true? Because if so, it's horrific, & how come we haven't heard more of it? David Dobbin of Backford nr Chester, had a herd of 567 dairy cows. Because of some "irregularities" in their paperwork, officials from Defra confiscated the animals' "passports" , then removed his herd to another farm in Chester, finally slaughtering them all, beginning on March 7th.
If there is more to this story I would like to know! It seems almost incredible, and very alarming.

If something similar to the report from Annasee @ 14 occurred in France then all the farmers would have parked their tractors and large trailers to block the autoroutes, oil refineries, town centres, etc. Something like this would not have been permitted to have been done by the government.

You english are to soft. Show your anger at stupid regulations. Get out and protest!

I can only remember one instance where collective action in England resulted in the government backdown - the oil refinery blockades in about 2000.

It was successful then and can be equally successful now.

NBP Marc - Re comments 5,6,7,9,10,12,13 - I wonder if you can tell us whether R4 message boards/blogs are likely to be re-jigged in any way similar to the massacre on radio 3?

    Should we be worried?

Hi all Just to let you know that we *are* aware that the blog keeps slipping back to September. The Powers That Be - ie those who understand things a whole lot more than me - are looking into it, but as yet there's no word on why it's happening or how to prevent it. Please bear with us, your patience is much appreciated, and normal service will be resumed once I've worked out just how hard to hit the internet with my hammer. Marc

Marc (22), Forgive me for pointing this out, but something that has never happened before cannot be "resumed" -- it must be "begun". :-)
