There is a day in every year,
I find, on which for the first time that year, you really feel the heat of the sun on your back. Similarly, there is that weary day as autumn approaches when you know the sun's rays will bear only light for months to come.
After another marvellous World at One this afternoon, I walked (sauntered? flounced? minced?) over to a well known coffee store near the office for one of their refreshing beverages. Returning to the office, I noticed on the expanse of grass outside which for months has been frozen/muddy/snow covered - certainly devoid of people - there were dozens of people from the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ and surrounding offices all lapping up the heat. I paused for a moment or two, and enjoyed the heat too. And arrive back at my desk strangely ready to communicate again. To reach out and express myself. Ah the wonders of the sun.
Actually I've just realised it's the quad latte. Sorry.
yes Eddie the Joys of Spring, sap rising, warmth and happiness!
You indeed marvel at the opposite of S.A.D.
And that would be... hmm... I reckon the other bloggers are better at acronyms than I.
Maybe Good All Year?
Ah, the World of Latte special.
Who needs four wheel drive?
Eddie - Should we expect a wee poyem between 5 and 6 since you're in the mood for waxing lyrical?!
Now, I am in a quandry - tear home and listen to Eddies dulcet tones, or loiter in the garden and do some yoga whilst the sun is still high (I would also add that this will entertain my neighbours, a public service if you will)
In awe I watched the waxing moon ride across the zenith of the heavens like an ambered chariot towards the ebon void of infinite space wherein the tethered belts of Jupiter and Mars hang forever festooned in their orbital majesty.
And as I looked at all this I thought...I must put a roof on this lavatory.

Pippa's song
The year's at the spring;
The day's at the morn;
Morning's at seven;
The hill-side's dew-pearled;
The lark's on the wing;
The snail's on the thorn;
God's in His heaven -
All's right with the world!
Whisht: Good to hear that you're in such fine fettle - keep smiling!
Dozy Parker: Love it!
Witchiwoman: :o)
Big Sis - great poem on the other thread!!
Wow! Just just had my first transportation back to September as the Main Page - and I thought you were all imagining it!
Timetravel is wonderful, RJD. Even the recent comments go haywire at times. I was back with the Pope several times today.
I know, you probably don't know what I'm on about.
Just what will it be like on 1st April, I wonder?
We are gradually moving though September; cheri was once the 'latest entry'. Theres a joke there I'm sure but I can't quite work it out today.
Eddie,
I have been playing tennis with the pupils in my class for most of the afternoon, a welcome escape from the SATs preparation they have been put through for so many hours. It was great to feel the sun on our faces and to enjoy the opportunity to do shomthing non-academic for an hour or so...
Oh I do know Big Sis. I bumped into the Pope earlier on as well.
I'm begininng to feel left out NOT having been back to September since it was September (apart from the beach then of course)...and my birthday was in September too...just think, I could have been having it over and over again.
yes, it is a lovely time of year...i wonder if it will stay like this until october at least...oh, i suppose we have the april showers to look forward too...and how much of this spring like weather before the water companies start bleating about a water shortage...and after all that rain too...
love the sun
Gareth (12) Good on yer! I hope there are more like you out there. After all you've got to catch it while you can!
I knew it was coming -- it smelled like summer last night then I had to drive somewhere earlier today and the car made that summer sound against the road. Hurrah!
Dozy (5),
As it happens, I spent today putting the framework for a roof on a composting loo with a view at our community woodland. A lovely day, made even better by the sense of accomplishment. All put together with oaken pegs....Now to find the thatching reed, but it's almost too late, because the warblers will be nest5ng very soon and we wouldn't want to turf them out. Perhaps another year as a skylight loo.
xx

By the way, a correction to your title for this thread if you don't mind: There are 365 days in three out of four years; 366 in the others. Except that one a while back where we lost 17 days -- ask Fearless Fred exactly which it was: apparently he remembers it well...
You're right. I didn't get out of work til nearly 7 but it smelt of spring outside and the sun was still warm.
Of course, sauntering/mincing for a coffee wearing pyjamas is much more fun..... (See 'Shipping Forecast fun') Aperitif's thinking of trying it!
It is indeed wonderful to feel that summer is finally arriving and the grimness of winter is over.
But, of course, the 27th of March is always a particularly wonderful day. It's my birthday!
Quad lattes all round - and for the Sony nomination.
Happy Belated Birthday Jack F, I'd offer to bake you a cake, but my nerves couldn't stand it :o)
Happy birthday for yesterday Jack.
OK, OK, call me unsophisticated, but what is this "Quad Latte" that everyone seems to be on about lately?
A, mostly a tea drinker... x.
THERE IS NO MALICE IN MY SPEEDINESS!
Okay, Appy. Quad latte.
Four shots of espresso plus steamed milk plus milk froth. Cost: mega *bucks.
I'm sure a quad chai latte might be available for you?
At least Eric's diluting the caffeine (slightly). Mind you, I have to say that I'm a great latte lover (as opposed, say, to a great Latin Lover). Hm, there's a thought ....
BS - quad chai latte.........oh joy!!
Thanks Big Sis, now I understand. I confess, latte is the only kind of coffee I drink outside of home -- all others are too strong and taste too much like, well, coffee -- but I always think it would be so much nicer without all that silly froth. Just coffee made with nice hot milk and brown sugar -- yum! And wo betide any chancer who tries to sprinkle chocolate on top of my coffee!!! No! No! No!
Appy: I'm with you on the froth. A weeny bit's okay, but too much is just, well - too much. Also agreed about the chocolate, though I'm surprised from you as I thought you were a chocoholic? ;o)
Actually, I don't drink a great deal of coffe (headaches, palpitations, etc.) but do like a really good one, particularly as made in Italy, where they know how to roast beans properly and make a mean cappu.
Well, you can tell I'm an Engineer... Coffee has to be black, no sugar or fancy schmancy sprinkles. If pushed, I'll drink expressos or americanos. Oh, and I did have some turkish last week in Slovenia:-)
Yeah, Big Sis (27) I know I seem to have a reputation here for being a chocolate fan -- probably because I was involved in the chocolate runs way back. I do like a little milk chocolate now and then, but chocolate should be just chocolate -- not combined with coffee or toffee or even most biscuits. And -- horror of horrors -- I'm not keen on dark chocolate at all. My unhealthy food of choice is salt and vinegar crisps (preferably Seabrook). I'm not really all that sweet-toothed.
Spring is sprung,
the grass is riz
I wonder where the camels is?
Cammelia, Cammelia,
The camel so fair
Had lovely long lashes
And beautiful hair.
Oh, all the male camels
Fell into a trance
Enthralled and absorbed
At the sight of her dance.
She danced through the desert,
Her hump it did sway,
And wiggle and shimmy--
Throughout the long day.
The music, it made her
So light on her feet,
You'd think she was floating
In time to the beat.
Her eyelids were lined
With the blackest of kohl,
And her hump undulated
With her belly roll.
Cammelia was graceful,
And slinky, and sleek,
No wonder she captured
The heart of the sheikh!
Original Poem by Shira
You're joking! A quad latte is FOUR shots of espresso? Good grief. No wonder I'd never heard of it. I'm seriously worried about Eddie's heart now.
Everyone is so poetic these days. Is it the springtime, d'you think?
Gah! I am not being malicious!!
Really!
Truly!
Plagiariser, oooooo, how did you know it was 'kohl '- I always thought it was spelled 'coal'. (swoons at the thought of 'turkish delight')
......And look where it got me,
fat drunk and in trouble
Rubiayat of Omar Sharif
Cammelia, Lady Dromedary
I must be honest - the poem is entirely stolen (originally penned by Shira). I thought the verses so apt that I substituted your name.
Aunt D - 30 -
....the camels on de wing!
Gee wizz, ain't dat absoid,
I tot da wings was on da boid?
Camels with wings...mmm I've always wanted to fly.
Oh yes. I shall warm to this theme, Ta ValP
You're welcome Cammy!
(Whilst I, apparently, am maliciously fast :o( )
