Do they really have The Calls (presumably for Any Answers) before the Any Questions programme is recorded?

Eddie's ahead of his time - again!
My name 'in lights'. How does one do a virtual curtsey I wonder? (-W-)
I've only been to Leeds once, during the time when the Yorkshire Ripper was active, so sightseeing was discouraged. Do, please, enjoy your trip, Eddie.
More Sequin on PM then this week, whilst our master indulges himself in the fleshpots of the North.
God knows that woman knows how to work hard.
Si.
The best bits of leeds-liverpool canal are not in Leeds. Only 2 and a bit hours from London on a train. Apparently they run night club specials. You come up from London, "club it" then go home on the first train.
Si:
Ouch!
Si, I recommend battening down the hatches!
Aw. How nice to see Leeds up in lights for a change. Have a ball Eddie. And if you get a chance to have a pint in Whitelocks, don't pass it up!!
I lived near Leeds for a few miserable years and can only describe it as the arm-pit of the North. However one man's arm-pit is another man's deodorant, so I cannot judge.
Belinda (8)
"one man's arm-pit is another man's deodorant" - brilliant!
And now for the results of the Poll:
Would PM benefit from a theme tune ?
Poll Results
"No"
5 of 16 total votes (31.3%)
"Yes "
11 of 16 total votes (68.8%)
I'm just quietly sniggering as all these froggers pile up 'on' Big Sis .....
As Eddie and the PM Hotrods squirm, can I say YES YES YES YES to a PM theme tune!!
But this time sung I feel:-
'It's five O clock, we're about to rock, PM's on the air again,
Eddies ready so's the crew, lets get started there's much to do,
you've heard the pips, now hear our scripts, as we read the news to you,
Because all to soon, it'll be time for a bong,
so now lets finish our PM song.
Eddie it's over to you'
Fantastic.. I want royalties.
Eddie - has the Chancellor switched jobs?
According to today's PM newsletter he's now the Defence Secretary!
Cheers
Stephen :-)
Which way is the 'Glass Box' ??
The trail for this evening's PM , stated that they would "speak to the people who matter". Am I to take it that I don't matter? Perhaps a new script writer?
My best friend works in Leeds.
That is all.
Re Carl :- It actually did scan with the PM Theme tuine.
Erm ? Only prob is we are still in the creative development of the Froggers song (when Fifi gets her act together with the master file!)
But -- 10/10 for your input Carl! - and I'm sure Eddie loved it.
PUSH! *sigh*
(I can't even remember what I said, but I know I said something here hours ago, and now I'm curious...)
I live in Leeds, in my opinion, it's a wonderful city, but I'll say at the outset that I'm not encouraging anyone to spend the day speaking in dialect, wearing a flat cap, taking whippets for a walk, singing about trekking on Ilkley Moor without appropriate headgear and crying eeh-bah-gum at Lancastrians.
To most of us who live and work in this glorious part of the world being from Yorkshire isn't about reinforcing the stereotype. It's not about marketing either. Nor is it about bringing in the tourists or even ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio 4's Question Time. All welcome just the same. It's about taking time to remember with pride where we're at. I've spoken to scores of people about Yorkshire over the years. They ranged from celebrities to bus drivers, from politicians to sports stars, from teenagers to great grannies.
They included people born and bred in Yorkshire and many from further afield. What's so great about living in Yorkshire? I asked.
Some waxed lyrical about the glorious scenery of the Dales, others dwelt on the spectacular coastline; many pointed to the shops, clubs and bars of its vibrant cities.
Headingley on a Test Match Sunday, they said; Spurn Point at high tide; York Minster, the North York Moors, Thorne Moor when the nightingales sing, Kirkstall Abbey, the Whalebones at Whitby, the museums, the theatres, Opera North, Northern Ballet Theatre, Harewood House, the curry restaurants of Bradford, the Waterfalls Walk at Ingleton, Malham Cove. And on and on. Thick and fast came their comments. There was no stopping them.
Of course they weren't looking through rose tinted spectacles. We all know there are problems. Crime, poverty and anti-social behaviour are but three of the evils that stalk our land. Yet on one thing all the people I spoke to were agreed. What's so great about living in Yorkshire? Its people. And we can overcome anything.
Our spirit of solidarity, our sense of belonging, our warm welcome and friendly smile, our adaptability, our determination to battle through what life throws at us come hell or high water. Our 'just do it' mentality. Our pride. It's that pride in this beautiful county, its people and its traditions that is so often mocked, usually by people who've never set foot here, who probably still believe in the 'flat-cap-and-whippets' stereotype and who think Keighley is pronounced 'Keely'.
I, along with thousands of others in God's own county, are proud to salute Yorkshire. But above all we are proud to salute its people.
Teddy (19),
I could say exactly the same about our soon-to-be-independent Scotland!
xx
ed
Teddy;
Are you really saying that 'flat cap and whippet' is a stereotype?
You'll try to convince us that people in Yorkshire don't eat black pudding three times a day and don't call out 'Ecky Thump' to each other next.
You lose I'm afraid.
Si. :-)
I spotted the spelling mistake, if nobody else did...
Teddy (19), What a beautifully written defence. But I don't think anyone was attacking -- until then. (Si, of course, just likes to wind people up.)
Appy;
Hee hee hee. ;-)
Si.
Last time I was in Leeds I was most impressed with the air quality. So, breathe deeply, Mr. Mair.
Teddy - don't rise to Si's bait, he only does it to annoy. I think?
Hey, what do I know though, I keep getting modded. Me? Yes, you down there with the glasses 8-)
