I am sorry to say that I find Robert Peston, the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳'s business correspondant, ( whose programme plug I've just endured again) incredibly tedious. He is difficult to listen to at the best of times, but now that he is gloating over the Northern Rock crisis - which he uncovered (he boasts) and I would suggest aggravated - he is excruciating. Please bring back that clear and sensible Evan Davies.

Sorry, Eddie, did I hear you say it had been "a torrid summer"? I think you meant a horrid summer....

I must compliment PM on continuing to cover the visual arts. It's a challenge for your reporters to convey what they're experiencing... and every time, they seem to rise to that challenge.

    Dear Eddie,
Congratulations on such an interesting interview with Maggi Hambling. Maggi is an excellent patron for our charity CoolTan Arts. She has opened many of our events and we had the pleasure of receiving one of her sea pieces to auction and raise money for our project.

CoolTan Arts was started 17 years ago by and is still run by people with mental distress. It became a registered in company in 1990 and a charity in 1997.

We exist to inspire the well-being, resourcefulness and participation of highly marginalised people experiencing mental distress predominately in London. In March 2006 Cooltan moved to the Walworth Road and added a public art gallery to its portfolio of activities, a recent participant said; Cooltan Arts operates a vibrant arts centre in Southwark's lively Walworth Road, near Elephant & Castle, from which we carry out various creative activities.

Nice to have Mair back but a pity Nigel and his "culture" slot have also reappeared. Wouldn't his slot fit in Front Row at 19:15 rather than PM? Otherwise a programme that dealt with the News rather than gossip.

    was there a program tonight?

I'm sure the radio was on but for the life of me I can't recall a thing that was said.

Well done, keep up the good work:)

A spot on report from Kabul - just what was needed. - It's all getting so sad and repetitive out there.

Markham:- Haha - I accept your argument. I suspect it's horses for courses really. I personally think that PM can carry a bit of Art - and I always apreciate Nigel's style and humour.

Fifi summed it up well I thought.

    Re: katie oliver:-

All I can say is that I agree 100% with your view. That trail was appauling - he is not far better, though no doubt talented in his trade.

Somebody within the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ really needs to sit him down and teach him about presentation skills.

On a local station it could be tolerated - but within Radio 4 and the high calibre of radio journalism he stands out like a sore thumb!

    Katie and Jonnie -

Agree in spades! He just does not suit radio work at all. Very difficult to follow and engage with and yes, he does seem to be gloating about Northern Rock (about the whole situation, not just about the story itself). Where is Evan?!

In contrast I find that Nick Robinson is much better on radio than television; before he used to get the off button, now I actually pay attention and find him to be informative and, if this is the right word, entertaining.

Jo Burley @ 4: Why is the charity named a fter a sun cream? There must be an interesting story behind it.

WW @ 8: We find that Nick R is just better on the Beeb.

I don't find Mr. Peston much different from Nils Blythe, myself. Sometimes if I miss the intro I have to wait until the outro to be sure who it was.

N.I.P: Bill Oddie is getting worse on xxxx-watch. This week my wife turned off in dismay. One of my colleagues thinks he is infatuated with KH, but I suspect he's reverting to his ISIRTA habits.

Dr H @ 9: Unsubscribe and then re-subscribe. This advice has been published previously.

Peston - always sounds like gibberish to me. He just doesn't follow the normal conventions of punctuation.

Nick R - I'm afraid I just laugh, now that Rory Bremner has him off to a T. Last night on the news at ten was a classic.

Bill Oddie - I'm afraid I can't watch. His anthropomorphism is cringe-worthy, and his drooling over KH is equally embarrassing. A shame, as that's just the sort of prog I'd enjoy without him.

Sid Grumbleland (and getting grumpier by the day)

I agree with most of the sentiments here.

Bill Oddie is an embarrassment and totally ruins a programme that Kate Humble is more than capable of presenting on her own.

Robert Peston I find totally off-putting – he should only be allowed to read out sentences that he has written down in front of him. In interview format he is dreadful.

And witchiwoman – you are spot on to say that Nick Robinson is better on Radio that television.

And will someone with a bit of authority please tell Messrs Naughtie and Humphrys that when they lower their voices to a whisper to emphasise some point, they render themselves almost inaudible. Mind you, this can on occasion be a good thing!
