Do we have to have the same chair every night? Cannot we have a different one (nearer the tables for our quadlattes) sometimes?
I hope you can get hold of someone tonight to discuss the implications of the dairy produce price-fixing by the supermarkets.
In particular, I would like to ask whoever would be appropriate whether the fines imposed will be paid back to dairy farmers in subsidies!!
As an average member of the public, I personally have adjusted to buying dairy products (from the supermarkets) at the current prices, and rather than pay 1p less for a pint of milk, I would far prefer to think that our dairy farmers were seeing a better return for their efforts!
When Mugabe finally leaves this world Zimbabwe will need enormous sums of aid to get it back on track. At that point the French, Spanish and Portuguese will be no where to be seen. The burden will fall to the evil imperialist Brits as usual.
Just listened to the news item about the death of
the 'composer' Stockhausen and listened to his
works in the background - innovative? What a load of rubbish, two cats in a dustbin couldn't make a more discordant row. All this in the name of progressive music art! Have the select few taken leave of their senses? I hope that nobody paid to hear it.

I don't know how fair that is because I don't remember any that I have listened to; I know I must have heard some, but it doesn't seem to have been memorable.
Well done - Tuesday’s newsletter got to me earlier today.
I was disappointed with the coverage of the story about the lady who left most of her £10 million fortune to the owners of "her favourite chinese takeaway". I would have expected this headline from a tabloid newpaper - not Radio 4. It turned out to be irrelevant that the recipients of the fortune owned the local chinese takeaway and much more important that they were very close family friends. Please leave this sort of silly misleading headline to the tabloids.

For once, I was able to listen to the whole broadcast (not being in the office). I think the coverage of the outcome of the Fallon trial was too much, to be honest. Yes, it was worth mentioning, but to push off the piece about three of the largest supermarkets being found guilty of price-fixing to cover a sportsman being found innocent is the wrong decision, I would suggest. The piece about price-fixing affects most of the population of the country. It should really have taken precedence over the racing piece...

Fearless Fred (13)... I understand your point. I would have liked the milk price fixing story to have got on the main body of the programme... though I don't agree it should have taken precedence over the Fallon story. I think your use of the word 'sportsman' is interesting. If it had been an extremely prominent businessman or politician, would you have had the same objection?
We had done an interview - a good one - on the price fixing, but there was a timing problem and we went too long on an earlier piece. A programme with a lot of built stuff in it is quite a complex jigsaw, so the price fixing story went. It had been around since early morning and had been covered on the Today programme.
And B Williams (11)... I don't agree with your comments. The restaurateurs had been clients of Mrs Bechal before becoming friends. And the court heard that she used to regularly have her favourite food delivered to her by the restaurant. I think the headline was fine. And I think we said restaurant, not takeaway.

Why is Roger Sawyer talking to himself, and repeating himself, on this blog? Can't he just talk to himself in the office? Would save a lot of typing ;)
Annasee @19, the really impressive thing is the way Roger replies in comment 15 to the comment in 16 that hasn't yet appeared. That's precognition or something, and the rest of us mere mortals can't manage it. Clever stuff, but only what we expect of the PM team I suppose.
Roger, you don't happen to feel like letting us know a few of the winners in the afternoon races, do you?
