Gary Glitter.

paulgadd.jpgThe emails we've had about Gary Glitter have hit on similar themes - in essence - why is the media hounding him? You can read them later in this post.

There have been similar articles too by (who will appear on PM tonight) who argues that Gary Glitter has "served his time...so is it right that he can now be subjected to any degree of persecution?"

in The Independent today makes a similar case: "His life is destroyed so why hound Gary Glitter>". For an alternative view - there's . You can read more of our emails in this post. But what do YOU think?

W Luckhurst wrote: "Perhaps you can break the mould of reporting and commenting on Paul Gadd's imminent return to these shores. He's being villified as an evil, devious nonce (which he surely is) by all and sundry, including the tabloids and Radio 4's various news bulletins. But it's not getting us anywhere - we alll knew this years ago since he took his hard drive into PC World on Cribbs Causeway.

Wouldn't it foster better understanding of his predicament to suggest he needs help for a serious illness? Most people have very little understanding about paedophilia and its causes. Can't you haul a leading expert onto your programme tonight to suggest how he could be helped - even if he can't be cured?"

Cameron wrote: "Why does the media feel it is necessary to spend so much airtime on THIS peadophile as opposed to all the other peadophiles in the UK.

He is just being given more publicity than he could have dreamed. He will be beseiged by the low-brow media and paid £1,000s for his miserable story; later, he might write a book and earn £1,000s more. In his case, crime will pay...

The media should stop giving him publicity and stop assuming that the majority of listeners, viewers and readers have any interest in his release from jail, his return to the UK and his activities going forward - the last is the responsibility of the authorities."
