Live Aid nurse
Do you remember the image of a young British nurse surrounded by 85,000 starving people in Michael Buerk鈥檚 成人论坛 report on the famine in Ethiopia that inspired the Live Aid movement? That woman was . She shared her inheritance tracks with us.
You can read more about Claire's experiences in her book "Moving Mountains", published by Transworld in 2005.
Claire picked 'Auf Der Alp' Alp Horn Blatten, Alphorn Duo, Jo Marty Seewen and 'Brothers In Arms' by Dire Straits.
Brothers in Arms is one of my favourite records for obvious reason. I will never be able to listen to it again without thinking of Claire in the Hundu Kush.
Complain about this postHi, Clare's 2 tracks please tell me what they are I really enjoyed them, thanks.
Complain about this postMy daughter, son-in-law and 2 children moved to Switzerland 10 or so years ago. Since "The Sound of Music" which I saw the first play in London and then of course the film, our family have been devoted to mountain scenery etc. I was reduced to tears hearing Alphorn music and also felt I was once again living with cows and cowbells as we experience in Buochs and also Gstaad. "Brothers in arms" also has great meaning and I will of course go and buy Claire Bertschinger's book because I feel she must be a wonderful person.
Complain about this postMy weekend has been made so interesting after listening to your programme!
Humbling and so moving. Fi was right, it certainly made me cry. I have always loved the song Brothers In Arms, but I listened to it differently this morning.
