  3. Guess who's back?

    Wales' only pair of breeding ospreys have just returned to their familiar stomping ground for the fifth year running. Following a 3,000 mile journey from their wintering ground in west Africa, the male landed safely back at Glaslyn last Saturday with the female following on a day later.

  4. Hides

    Hides really show you Welsh wildlife at its best: close-up and in great variety. Last weekend I biked up to Forest Farm nature reserve in Cardiff and spent a good couple of hours in their two hides. Tucked right under the M4, Forest Farm is a strange place for wildlife but it runs close to the River Taff and has a good spread of birds and other species in its woodland and pond habitats.

  5. Spectacular starlings

    Check out this stunning footage of starlings coming in to roost, captured by a contributor to the 成人论坛 North East Wales website. Craig Smith, a volunteer warden at Marchwiel Marsh, near Wrexham, got in touch after filming the birds' display earlier this month. The reasons for these spectacular cloud-like gatherings which can involve hundreds of thousands of birds, have yet to be established for certain although it's believed the behaviour is intended to confuse predators.
