Are you a complainer?

We've always been good at complaining - mostly between ourselves rather than offically registering our disquiet - but now, it seems, we really know how to stand up for ourselves. It's like everything else, I suppose, the more you do it the better you get.

My neighbour regularly gives the postman what for if he dares to take a shortcut over the lawn and my wife is a thorn in the side of customer service departments everywhere - most memorably when there were no brazil nut caramels in her tub of chocolates. If you don't ask, you don't get.

On a more serious note, what has struck me recently is the type of people I've seen protesting, fighting their corner for what they believe.

I've seen grannies waving placards to oppose the closure of Flint hospital and somebody's mother, well, several dozen of them, outside Wrexham Guildhall to show their feelings about the dumping of rubbish from Merseyside in a landfill in Wrexham.

Then there was the middle-aged porter, John Hornby, who took to the roof of Prestatyn community hospital to fight against its closure.

These aren't your stereotypical protester, they're average people, people like you and me.

I'm wondering what we'll see outside Abergele and St Asaph hospitals today following the announcement that they, along with Llandudno hospital, are to be downgraded and possibly even closed [full story from ]. One thing's for sure - expect a backlash. Power to the people!

Are you a complainer? What have you complained about?
