World Have Your Say on the Road

Just a few months after launching, we're taking World Have Your Say on the road.
We're spending a week doing the programme from the U.S. It'll still be a global programme looking at global talking points but with a live audience and contributors from America.

We start in:
- New Orleans on March 27 at the
This is a great place with bags of history.We had originally looked into a very kind offer from one of our listeners to do the programme from her house but without power and fresh water we couldn't really do it. We will of course discuss the aftermath of Katrina while here as we've had a tremendous response from the city whenever we've talked about it.
- Tuesday March 28 is the restaurant in New York City
As you'll see, the restaurant has been set up by staff who worked at the Window on the World restaurant at the World Trade Center. It'll be hard to go to New York and not discuss the legacy of 9/11 on the psyche of the city and the country. David from the team who fixed this place tells me it's the only workers owned co-operative restaurant in the city.
- Wednesday March 29 is Atlanta and the
Again, it's a place rooted in the history of the U.S and somewhere I've been fortunate enough to have visited before. We want to talk about the role of religion in whatever form to American life- and politics. I was in the city for the Olympics in 1996 so I'll be interested to see the place again.
- Thursday March 30 is Detroit's
I have to be honest and say I'm really envious that I won't be at this place (we've divided the WHYS team into two and I'm on the other one) as I feel like I grew up with the music of Motown. Enough about my age-we will of course talk about trade and the motor industry here too.
- Friday March 31 is the in Washington DC:
Peter from the team who negotiated this deal was at the end of some hard bargaining from the school. He has to buy the students who take part in the programme pizzas and sodas afterwards. I will of course be checking to make sure he doesn't try and pass it through expenses. Here- among whatever else is a talking point on the day- we'll discuss education and America's future role.
