So what are you going to do?
We can't avoid the IPCC report on Climate Change. It's leading every major news outlet and a lot of blogs. The question we'll pose is: WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO ABOUT IT? Read on . . .
Climate Change
It's a big but are you taking steps to reduce your carbon footprint?
The report out today says temperatures willl increase by 1.8-4C by the end of this century. What practical steps are you personally going to embark upon to help in the fight? Take the car less? Plant a tree? Fly less? Fly more? Do absolutely nothing? Buy a more fuel-efficient vehicle? Purchase property in in the hope it eventually becomes the Barbados of the future?
Our sister programme The World Today has a very interesting series of 'Myth Debunkings.' Have a listen here. Also try working out your personal carbon consumption with this (warning - it's a bit in depth, for something a bit more quick-and-dirty try this .)
Noise
A report came out today saying that a British city was the in England due to its problematic traffic noise. During the morning meeting someone said "They should try Delhi" and it sparked off a whole load of chat about how maybe we in the UK have it easy when it comes to noise. Candidates for cities to give you a serious ear-bashing were: Cairo and Delhi. Is noise a prbolem for you or is it perhaps too quiet where you live?
And let's not forget there are for whom this sort of ambient traffic buzz is merely the sideshow to the main event.
