Ros Atkins Ros Atkins | 09:42 UK time, Friday, 27 August 2010

UPDATE: We're discussing this topic again today - this time on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ World TV at 1430 GMT.

Take a look at the video above, released today - the first pictures from inside the mine. This article explains more about what the video shows.

On our TV special, you can put your questions to former miners Brant Webb in Australia and Stephen Thomas in South Africa, both of whom have been trapped in the past.

We'll also be talking to psychologists and Chileans to find out their latest thoughts.

Original blog post:

Today's show will look at this story which has gripped many of us.

To be clear about this : 33 miners will be trapped until Christmas in a 500 square feet passage , in temperatures of 97 degrees fahrenheit. And they've already been down there 3 weeks.
talks about how they've survived trapped more than 2,300 foot underground for 18 days on pieces of tuna and milk...

says they'll survive because..

"Miners don't panic"

He may well be right- already we've heard them singing the Chilean national anthem from their underground prison, and they've been sending positive messages upwards to their families, including the most important, first note which read :

""All 33 of us are fine in the shelter,".minersmap.gif

Here's the latest piece from our man at the mine, Gideon Long, and we're hoping to hear the latest from him on the show later.

We'll be hearing the mood of national joy and solidarity in Chile, talking to experts about how people can deal with long periods of confinement, ( recommend avoiding bland food and board games), talking to ex-miners and of course you .
