On air: Have you been affected by the snow over Europe?

Heathrow airport

This blog post was written by Anna Chapman and posted by me.

Snow is falling, all around. Well, it certainly is all over Europe - and nowhere is it doing so with more impact than the UK.

The busiest airport in Europe, Heathrow near London, is all but closed. Flights from Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris airports have all suffered mass cancellations.

Indeed, the Daily Telegraph describes Heathrow as a "refugee camp." They spoke to Mr Garrels who :

We had -3C here yesterday and four inches of snow. In Helsinki it was -25C and they have almost a metre of snow on the ground. Yet there were no delays there.

Finn Marja-Liisa Mantymaa emailed the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳:

I know that unlike Londoners I and other Nordic people have lifetime experience of real winter. I still think that this kind of temporary, short-lasting snowfall and subzero temperature should not cause total disruption of traffic like this at Europe´s busiest airport
Canadian is stuck at Heathrow too and says:
"It's getting to the point where it's just so ridiculous, you just don't know what to do."

However, blogger Iain Martin says :

There are only three things the British love more than weather. The first is moaning about weather in general. The second is complaining about the country's unpreparedness for snow. But above both sits all aspects of Christmas. Combine the lot - weather, a chance to complain about a specific weather event, a lack of preparedness for snow and Christmas disrupted - and you have a combustible news cocktail.

Some people have been enjoying themselves despite the problems. "Wooh Europe! Snow everywhere & blistering cold wind from impossible directions," .
