Should the US stay out of the Egypt reforms?

Ben Allen | 09:56 UK time, Thursday, 10 February 2011

After three shows from South East Asia it鈥檚 back to business as usual on WHYS with Chloe presenting from London.听听Ros and听team will be back from Bangkok in time for Friday鈥檚 TV programme, which you can catch on at 15.00gmt.

Egypt is still by far and away the most talked about story, after just three weeks of protests some commentators are saying we鈥檙e witnessing a that will usher in 鈥渁 new age in world history.鈥 Strong stuff but for some things aren鈥檛 changing quickly enough.

After some uncertainty the US is the protestors, yesterday the White house spokesman said "I think it is clear that what the government has thus far put forward has yet to meet a minimum threshold for the people of Egypt," Robert Gibbs said. In his latest interviews it鈥檚 clear that the 成人论坛鈥檚 North America Editor, Mark Mardell, believes Washington does not think the Egyptian government is serious about delivering change, and wants everyone to hear that message.

America has a close relationship with Egypt and is a large aid donor to the country. It obviously welds great power in the region but should it have any dealings in the reforms? Egyptians foreign minister thinks the US should keep their noses out 鈥淲ashington should not "impose" its will on "a great country".

What do you think? Should the US back the protestors and apply pressure? Or should they take a back seat? If you鈥檙e in the Middle-East would you welcome help from the international community?
