US election latest: keeping it simple

Post categories:

Robin Lustig | 12:41 UK time, Tuesday, 29 January 2008

Here's the latest instalment of the Lustig Survival Guide: just concentrate on the numbers.

According to the most recent opinion polls, if it's John McCain for the Republicans against Hillary Clinton in November, it'll be a dead heat.

If it's McCain against Barack Obama, it'll be a dead heat.

If it's any other Republican against either Clinton or Obama, the Democrats will win easily.

Like I said, keep it simple. Unless Mitt Romney wins the Republican primary in Florida tonight ...

Rather than let the electorate decide, why not skip all the time, cost, and bother and just let the media pundits vote. If it comes out a dead heat, we'll just have to have two Presidents. They can take turns alternating days, one being President one day, the other being President the next.

Now didn't this very thing happen in 2000? And who decided who would be President? If you ask me, it was the Supreme Court Judge Sandra Dey O'Connor. Imagine if this had been Kenya...or Pakistan.

There鈥檚 something truly sick about John McCain when he seeks support from Pastor Hagee and his 鈥淐hristians United for Israel鈥 death cult.

Norman Podhoretz has quoted McCain saying: 鈥淭he only thing worse than bombing Iran, McCain has declared, is allowing Iran to get the bomb.鈥

Israel will do there damnedest to find the evidence to build a case for war with Iran and McCain will be pressured to deliver a trident* missile.

If war with Iran will dig the US out of their financial crisis them McCain is a sure winner; put me down for a 拢10 win at 7-2.

Dearie, dearie me Mr Lustig, this sharp, concise, incisive analysis really just will NOT do..

Don't you know that the jobs of hundreds of journalists on both sides of the pond, and the business model of hundreds of bloggers depend on :-

    - Idle speculation
    - Inaccurate information
    - Verbose complexity
    - Illogical analysis
    - A combination of all of the above

Come along now, Robin, we don't want to be putting all those hardworking pundits out of work now do we ? Why not try spicing [sexing?] it up with some dodgy facts and figures occasionally !

Frightening to look at the Israeli papers (I think I saw Ha'aretz) and see their "let's fight to see how pro-Israel we can be" charts.

Oh well, I guess everyone else can have a look too and vote for the candidate with the lowest score!

In fact it is even better for McCain than Robin suggests. He is now clearly ahead of Clinton and Obama - by 8% and 6% - in the most recent polls. I just have a gut instinct that Hillary cannot win this Presidential race, she is too divisive, there are too many negatives and I do not think the American people want to carry on this dynastic, third world style of politics!
