Alex Parks
may be busy in the studio working with stars like Judie Tzuke and
the band 'James' but she's still keeping her eye on the music world
outside.
Alex
has revealed who she is influenced by today as well as in the past.
"I
really love Razorlight," says Alex on her official website.
"And The Killers. I have bought their albums. I've been playing
them all the time."
But
as Alex continues to write new material for her planned June album,
she has also been returning to her early influences for further
inspiration.
"I
have been going over old ground listening to lots of Joni Mitchell
and Jeff Buckley," says the Cornish star.
Alex
has also revealed who would be in her top five of today's songs.

Max
says: I would have Dirty Pretty Words on my jukebox, that
has to be the best song on her album! I think it would be
great if Alex did a cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana...
Max
Linzi
says: Hi! I'd listen to anything Alex sang on a jukebox
as her voice is amazing. It sends shivers down my spine. She
is a real inspiration to me. However my favourites off her
album Introduction are her cover of Imagine
and Dirty Pretty Words.

Alex
just after her Fame Academy win |
We
have learned that Alex's second album will be released, but
hold on to your ten pound notes, it won't be until June.
Fans
may be worried about the length in time since Alex has appeared
in the charts. Her last release was the single 'Cry' in February
2004!
But
her record label Polydor issued a statement recently saying:
"The
album is due out in June. It has been put back because Alex is still
working on it. It will be worth waiting for."
According
to reports on Alex's official website it looks like that statement
could be well and truly correct. In a bulletin released on 23 March
alexparksofficial.com reported that Alex has started to work with
some exciting new people.
These
include 70s star Judie Tzuke, and members of 90s Britpop band James
(who could forget anthems like 'Sit Down'?)
|
Alex's
last chart entry was with 'Cry' back in early 2004 |
Alex
says on her website that working with these talented artists 'has
thrown a whole new light on things on to everything'.
She
goes on to say that she is planning to work on the album until it's
how she wants it to be.
"It's
going really well," says Alex.
"I'm
really positive about the whole thing as I think we're nearly finished
now. It's kind of frustrating as we're so close."
So
roll on June, and let's hope that the album really is worth the
wait!
