Nina Davey with Commodore Gordon Moulds

Surprise Award

When ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio Cornwall's Community Producer Nina Davey went to RAF St Mawgan she had little idea about what was in store. She had been invited to cover the presentation of a silver salver to the SW Region ATC Cadet of the Year, Karla Lincoln.

Nina was aghast however when Air Commodore Gordon Moulds from RAF CranwellÌýcalled her forward to receive a Commandant’s Certificate for Meritorious Service to the Air Training Corps.Ìý

He referred to Nina as 'a star' and stated that 'as a direct result of her broadcasts last year the Wing received more enquiries from potential volunteer staff and cadets than we did from the national recruiting campaign.'

Before she had time to think Nina was whisked away for an aerobatic flight over Padstow in a Grob Tutor 2 seater plane.Ìý

"I can’t believe we looped the loop and did a barrel roll – it was just fantastic! I'mÌý delighted to have been able to help the ATC."
