Superstar Jonathan
Meet Danny Strong

The Real Danny

"He not only saw himself as small in stature, but in a spirit, and he just wanted to be noticed for once," notes Danny, empathising with his alter ego. Thankfully, his real life education posed no such problems.

"As for my own high school experiences they were much more enjoyable. I was the smallest kid in my school, but I had the biggest ego, so they kind of balanced each other out. I don't know if I was living in denial or what, but my height just made me more ambitious and competitive as opposed to feeling alienated."

There is much more to Danny String's career than simply Buffy. He also has a great passion for the theatre. "I think that theatre is the actors ultimate medium, because once the play opens we are in charge (although stage managers may argue this). I think that it is a wonderful discipline for young actors, and I find that I have more respect for actors that have a theatre background. Even though I have worked with some great actors that don't."

Danny's own favourite experience on-stage would have to be "doing Lost in Yonkers at the Tennessee Repertory Theatre in Nashville, Tennessee. The play is wonderful, and the audiences just loved it. My favourite playwrights are Arthur Miller, David Mamet, and Anton Chekov. Their plays are highly dramatic and emotionally truthful - the most important elements in modern drama."

Independent films are another love. Last summer Danny starred in Spoof - a short film that satirises film parodies (in this case, the works of Stanley Kubrick, Austin Powers and Steven Spielberg) with hilarious results!

"I've always been a fan of indie film making," says Danny of the project, "so this experience only reaffirmed that. I think that Spoof was appealing because there are so many parodies out there right now that the genre was begging to be sent up. I was thrilled with the response it got, it received a lot of attention here in Los Angeles. Some friends of mine from college made it, so I was just glad I could help them out."
