Crackers Don't Matter
Teleplay by Justin Monjo
Directed by Ian Watson

REVIEW
Great fun to watch – and it looked like great fun for the cast, too.

True, it risked being like Star Trek: The Next Generation where whenever someone said something mildly nasty you knew they'd been taken over by alien lifeforms, but Farscape prodded apart some existing conflicts. It didn't make some up that could then be resolved with a hug in the epilogue.

So the show has really reopened some old wounds and given a fresh set to Aeryn and Crichton, plus Aeryn and Chiana and everybody and Zhaan.

Farscape is definitely at its peak when it places true conflict in science fiction settings and the fights between the crew were by far the best elements of this story. The framing device of T'raltixx's little plan to take over the world wasn't so interesting, ultimately, and nor was the solution which so depended on some dodgy information from T'raltixx himself.

Everything in between, however, worked very well – especially the revelation that Crichton's ability to fight the problem was down to his deficiencies rather than just down to his being the series lead.

back to ploton to did you notice?
