An escape has tragic consequences.
Written by David Kemper
Directed by Tony Tilse
This pulled off Farscape’s second greatest trick of making it impossible to imagine how the gang will get out of their predicament. Then it did its greatest trick of finding a way to resolve the story that was wasn’t a cop-out or a let-down.
It perhaps wasn’t as strong in how it handled its first major character exit as Zhaan really should have left some time ago: she has had progressively little to do since the first season. Also, it was odd how the gang ran completely out of time and yet then had a good five minutes for a speech by her.
That said, making her death be John’s fault and her willingness to die be Aeryn’s fault gave a tragic quality to Zhaan’s exit that could only have been improved if Stark had gone with her.
