Roswell | Episode Guide
To Serve and Protect

CastIsabel's visions of an abducted girl place Valenti's career in jeopardy.

Written by Breen Frazier
Directed by Jeffrey Levy

This is a staggering episode of Roswell. And there are another three just like it still to come. It's a very welcome change of pace - fast-moving, complexly-plotted, and with a number of satisfying pay-offs to things that have been set up across the series.

Lots of tough issues are addressed. For instance, it tackles Valenti magnificently. His close relationship with the Royal Four and his history of alien paranoia are suddenly hit head-on by the arrival of a suspicious policeman.

It's wonderful to see Valenti accidentally brought down by Isabel's powers. If you were ever worried that this was turning into an alien version of the Famous Five, this episode knocks that idea on the head, as everything goes so horribly wrong.

By the end of the episode you've got Isabel doubting her powers and her boyfriend, Valenti's reputation on the rocks, and there's still a mystery girl buried alive.

PS: We love Kyle's fear of becoming an alien.

This week's love:

Isobel: Troubled by Grant. Is he all that he seems?
Liz: Is Max being supplanted by wide-boy Sean DeLuca?
Kyle: Tess is such a minx.
