Q: Who's in Subliminal Army?
A: We are Jake Chanter, 16, on vocals; Tom Genge, 16, on lead guitar; Max Bockh-Robinson, 16, on drums; and Hayden Bellamy, 15, on bass and backing vocals.
Q: What's the story behind the band?
A: We are based around the Torrington area. Previous bands split up, and we were aware of each other at school so we decided to get together and give it a try. We all have an interest in rock and some forms of rap so we thought we'd try and put the two together. We formed in 2007.
Q: Which three words best describe your music?
A: Exciting, energetic, communicative.
Q: What has been your most memorable gig?
A: At The Plough in Torrington - the crowd was absolutely amazing and we experienced our first stage invasion. Great!
The lads love playing live
Q: If you could have three guests to dinner, who would you invite and why?
A: Jimi Hendrix because he was a guitar legend and would love to jam with him; Kurt Cobain - curious about how and why such a talent died; and Bugs Bunny to add some humour to the evening.
Q: What do you think of the current music scene?
A: Not very impressive. A lack of super bands such as Led Zep, AC/DC, Guns 'n' Roses (original line-up). Too much over-produced indie - all very sickly sweet.
Q: Tell us about the track you've chosen to demo.
A: It's called Justify the Compromise. During the lead-up to the war in Iraq, we felt that the integrity of our Parliament was compromised. We're basically asking them to justify their actions.
Q: Complete the sentence: "When we become famous..."
A: We'd like to carry on the work of people like Sir Bob Geldof - using music for good as well as for entertainment.
Q: In your own words, sell yourself.
A: We are four enthusiastic musicians with a message in our music. We perform in a professional manner and never forget that we are there to entertain and excite our audience. We write our own music and lyrics, and rehearse and rehearse. We have always raised our audiences to their feet and generated a great atmosphere.
