Sport Relief at the Sir David English Sports Centr

The runners set off

Sport Relief 2008

Thousands of people across Dorset pulled on their red socks, braved the wet weather and ran, walked, toddled and hopped a mile on Sunday 16 March to raise money for Sport Relief.

Sport Relief culminated on Sunday 16 March with hundreds of Sport Relief Mile events which were held all over the country.

There were 23 flagship miles dotted across the UK and hundreds more local miles, including three in Dorset at Ferndown, Weymouth and Bournemouth.

Despite the wet weather runners were out in force - at the Sir David English Sports Centre, which hosted the Bournemouth Mile 300 places had to be increased to 500 to cope with the mass of enthusiastic runners.

After a much needed warm-up, the runners set off on a muddy course of one, three or six miles joined by Cherries Midfielder Danny Hollands.

Sport relief is held every other year to raise cash to help vulnerable people both at home in the UK and across the world鈥檚 poorest countries.

Steve kept on running

成人论坛 Radio Solent's new drivetime presenter Steve Harris ran more than a mile for Sport Relief - in fact he ran 24 miles in 24 hours.

From 7pm on Thursday Steve ran a mile every hour in different locations including Eastleigh, Fareham and Winchester.

Steve's blisters didn't get the better of him, he was back at the 成人论坛 Radio Solent studios to run the final three miles on a treadmill during his show on Friday afternoon.
