Carl Merry is a member of the Essex Storytellers.听 He earns his living going around schools, groups and attending events such as the Essex Book Festival telling stories from all different cultures.

He first realised the power stories have after being asked to cover a Maths class at the secondary school he was teaching at.听

Maths not being his subject, he decided to tell the class of rather disruptive 14-year-olds a story, and held their attention for the duration of the lesson.听

His full time job is now being a story teller.听 He particularly enjoys traditional stories from other cultures such as Africa.
