Concert information
Vienna, 22 December 1808: in one marathon concert, Ludwig van Beethoven played and directed the first public performances of four of his most personal masterpieces. Beethoven鈥檚 鈥淎cademy鈥 included not just the premieres of his Fifth and Sixth Symphonies, Fourth Piano Concerto and Choral Fantasy, but a range of vocal and keyboard works that showed every aspect of his genius as performer as well as creator. In this special three-part concert, Thomas Dausgaard and the 成人论坛 SSO recreate one of the most extraordinary nights in the history of music 鈥 with Jan Lisiecki taking Beethoven鈥檚 place at the keyboard, and three superb young singers performing music that still sounds new today. Unmissable.
There will be intervals of 20 mins after Part One, and of 60 mins after Part 2. The performance will end at approximately 7.30pm.
The concert will be supported before and during the intervals by performances of chamber music works by Beethoven from students at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
