About This Event
The ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Singers team up with pianist Nicolas Hodges for a performance of Betsy Jolas’ Concerto-Fantaisie ‘Oh night, oh’ at St. Paul’s Church, Knightsbridge. The text is a patchwork from works by Shakespeare and Victor Hugo combined with prayers and lullabies from the composer’s childhood, intertwined to create a soundscape of the evening and night through a dialogue between the piano and choir. Known for her love of renaissance polyphony and appreciation of the genre, Jolas’s Concerto-Fantaisie is paired with arguably Palestrina’s most famous setting of the mass, the glorious Missa Papae Marcelli. The programme will also include a new premiere by the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Singers’ Composer-in-Association, Roderick Williams, directed by Chief Conductor Sofi Jeannin.
