Thomas S酶nderg氓rd closes our St David鈥檚 Hall season with Mahler鈥檚 鈥楻esurrection鈥� Symphony, summoning the full force of the Orchestra and Chorus to conjure the afterlife through music.
It鈥檚 paired with B Tommy Andersson鈥檚 Satyricon, a piece inspired by the tales of three young men in Ancient Rome. Written by the Latin author Petronius, it chronicles the amusing and sometimes risqu茅 adventures of the lead character Encolpius. The rhythmic and extroverted music paints a picture of the scene, ending with, in the composer鈥檚 words, 鈥渁 grotesque dance, wild and noisy鈥�.
