Poetry from MARK GRIST
Mark Grist is an English teacher and award winning poet and performer. Well-known for his viral YouTube videos and rap battles, as a broadcaster he has created work for 成人论坛 Radio 1, 2, and 6 Music, 成人论坛2, ITV, Channel 4, Film 4 and Google. Mark has toured the UK as a spoken word artist and delivered masterclasses on creativity in Switzerland, New York and Singapore. His debut collection of poems Rogue Teacher was published last year. He is currently developing a TV Series with Red Bull titled 'Mark Grist Battles the World,' in which he'll be exploring how hip hop culture and rap battles have transformed communities across the globe.
Music from Op Sa! Balkan Band
Bringing their own passionate brand of Balkan Gypsy music, Op Sa! is influenced by the roots of the Serbian Kolo and the Turkish 膷o膷ek and their repertoire is an addictive blend of wild beats, gypsy flair and eastern melodies. Op Sa! have supported top bands such as Serbian Romani band KAL and the Turbans. They have also worked alongside producers Gypsy Hill and performed at prestigious venues such as the Royal Festival Hall alongside the London Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as being the featured headliner at the Lancaster Music Festival 2015.
*Listeners can look forward to music from Serbia, Macedonia, Bosnia and the Romani culture with a growing number of original compositions and arrangements incorporating jazz and rock influences. The band鈥檚 sets are orchestrally varied and dynamic, and ooze passion for what they do.
Teaming a traditional brass section with electric guitar and drum kit, they give a contemporary twist to deep-rooted cultural influences and create an unmistakeably rich sound.
