Orff鈥檚 vividly coloured cantata 'Carmina burana' is the main course in this year鈥檚 free Prom. The programme also includes the world premiere of Guy Barker鈥檚 new trumpet concerto for Alison Balsom.

About this event

This year鈥檚 free Prom is an ideal opportunity to introduce family and friends to classical music. Carmina burana is as musically inventive as it is irreverent 鈥� a choral cantata based on a medieval text charting the joys, fickleness and excesses of human life. The 成人论坛 Concert Orchestra鈥檚 Composer-in-Association Guy Barker provides a new concerto for trumpet virtuoso Alison Balsom and the orchestra鈥檚 own Charles Mutter is the soloist in Saint-Sa毛ns鈥檚 devilish Danse macabre.
