The ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Philharmonic opens Blackburn Classics with a beautiful collection of German masterpieces conducted by Elena Schwarz.

°Â±ð²ú±ð°ù’s Der Freischütz begins with a stunning horn quartet that sets the scene for the story of Max, the out-of-luck-huntsman, who makes a pact with the Devil to take part in a shooting contest to win the hand of his sweetheart, Agathe.

Brahms wrote his Double Concerto whilst on a summer holiday in Switzerland and here, two vibrant young artists, Daniel Pioro and Anastasia Kobekina, will bring this masterful concerto vividly to life.

"No one can love the countryside as much as I do" wrote Beethoven, and this love was eloquently expressed in the composer’s timeless Pastoral Symphony. With its depictions of the “happy song of the birds", the "sweet murmur of a brook" the "dreaded storm" and much more, it never fails to inspire and delight.
