³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Cymru Wales celebrates the Last Night of the Proms along with parks across the UK at the Owain Glyndŵr Playing Fields at 7.45pm on Saturday, September 7 in Caerphilly.
West End singing stars John Owen Jones and Sophie Evans will be joined on stage by trumpet soloist Alison Balsom and the theme is 'A Night at the Musicals'. John Owen Jones will be singing ‘Bring Him Home’ from Les Miserable, Sophie Evans will sing ‘Over the Rainbow’ from the Wizard of Oz and Alison Balsom will perform ‘I Got Rhythm’.
Carmarthenshire-born West End and Broadway actor John Owen Jones, known for his outstanding lead roles in Les Miserables and The Phantom of the Opera will be joined by Tonypandy's Sophie Evans, who has moved on from her role as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz to delight audiences around the country during her national tour. Alison Balsom - recently nominated for Gramophone Artist of the Year 2013 and described as one of the world's finest trumpeters - will be performing fresh new arrangements for trumpet and orchestra of well-known and much loved songs from stage and screen.
Tim Rhys-Evans and Connie Fisher will co-present this year’s Prom bringing the summer festivities to a close. Music lovers are invited to come with picnics and flags to celebrate at this open-air event culminating in the traditional sing-along featuring the popular You’ll Never Walk Alone this year.
Proms goers can also capture the atmosphere from the comfort of their own home, with live coverage from Owain Glyndŵr Playing Fields on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio Wales presented by Beverley Humphreys or on iPlayer via bbc.co.uk/radiowales.
