Marty and Doc hit the Wild West for the final part in the hugely enjoyable "Back to the Future" trilogy. Just as each film maintained a high level of quality entertainment, so does each disc in the boxset.
TECHNICAL FEATURES
Picture Fresher and sharper looking than "Part II", the transfer of the third movie is excellent.
Sound For subwoofer effects, this is the most bass-ridden of all three films, with both the Dolby and DTS tracks enjoying plenty of effects to showcase.
SPECIAL FEATURES
Making the Trilogy: Part III Most of the crew from the first film were more than happy to return for the two sequels, which were filmed back to back for 11 months. As Michael J Fox points out, it's a long time to spend on one project, and during that period he gained a son and lost his father.
For director Robert Zemeckis, he ended up working like a Trojan, editing "Part II" in the mornings and shooting "Part III" in the afternoons. He admits that "Part II" suffered as a result, but still feels that all three films have stood the test of time compared to other movies released in the 80s.
Deleted Scene Running at just over a minute, this is a short scene, but it shows a very nasty side to Biff Tannen.
Storyboard to Final Scene Comparison Three action scenes are explored here, with the storyboards of the train scene drawn by Simon Wells, director of 2002's "The Time Machine".
Outtakes These are possibly the funniest outtakes on all three discs.
Production Archives Here you'll find image galleries for Marty McFly, behind-the-scenes shots, production designs, and poster concepts for the trilogy. The poster concepts is a must-visit gallery, with the alternative ideas for the marketing of the first film showing just how futuristic and different the final design was compared to other movies of the era. If the film had gone out with some of the other potential posters, it's possible to imagine that it wouldn't have done so well.
Additional Extra Features Also on the DVD is a ZZ Top music video (shudder), a theatrical release trailer, and a trailer for the "E.T." special edition DVD release.
