Vithya Nandakumar is a young student living in London and is president of the SOAS University Tamil Society. She is passionate about keeping Tamil traditions alive including the celebration of Thai Pongal, an annual harvest festival. During the festival, thanks is given for rice, one of Sri Lanka鈥檚 key staples, and they celebrate by preparing a traditional Pongal dish, a sweet rice pudding, cooked over a fire.
