Extra Time with Malcolm Boyden every Tuesday evening between 7 and 9pm...

Malcolm Boyden is a double Sony award winning radio presenter.

He was voted Britain's "Radio personality of the Year" in 1997 and followed that up in 2001 with a "Broadcaster of the Year" accolade.

He began his career as a newspaper journalist – starting as a general reporter on the Redditch Indicator, where in 1985 he won the "Heart of England Sports Journalist Award."

He later went on to work as a sports sub-editor on the Daily Star and then sports editor of the Birmingham Daily News

Malcolm is also currently a regular contributor for The Times, newspaper.

His radio career started before he left school when he was spotted by Wolverhampton’s Beacon Radio and began commentating on West Bromwich Albion.

The Baggies have always been his main sporting "love".

He's still a season ticket holder at The Hawthorns along with his eight-year-old soccer mad son Elliott.

Malcolm's debut novel, Perfect, was published in 2003 with Brum's The Word, a book made up of his football columns in The Times, in the same year.

His third book, Ferrets, Faggots and Elvis, was published in 2005.

Malcolm has also made many stage appearances; he made his pantomime debut in 1997 when he played alongside Frank Bruno and Karl Howman in Goldilocks and the Three Bears at Birmingham’s Hippodrome Theatre.

He became the first artist ever to be invited back to the Hippodrome the following year, when he appeared with Brian Conley and Danny La Rue in Cinderella.

He made his debut as a pantomime dame in 2000 when he took on the role of Mother Goose at Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre.

In 2002, he teamed up again with Frank Bruno as Gertie the "Queen of the Circus" in Goldilocks at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre.

In 2003-04 he returned to the Birmingham Hippodrome when he appeared with Julian Clary in Cinderella.

Malcolm has also appeared with the Birmingham Royal Ballet - he performed the role of the Magician’s Assistant in David Bintley’sÌýThe Cracked Nut.

He made his musical debut in the summer of 2000 when he took on the role of Stoker the butler in the world premier of Balfour.

In July 2002 he played Lenny Cox in Wallop Mrs Cox at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre, a role he recreated "by popular demand" at The Rep in February 2003.

Last summer he took the lead role in Ridin' The No 8 at the Birmingham Rep – a musical about a Midlands bus route!

The Birmingham-based Sunday Mercury once did a special "supplement" containing a life-size full colour pullout picture of Malcolm, which readers could assemble from five different pieces.

One young lady in Redditch still has him on the back of her bedroom door!
